Job Overview
As a Renew Product Engineer, you will be responsible for the audit, diagnosis, and refurbishment process of computers and related hardware in our Renew lab. You will play a crucial role in extending the lifespan of pre-owned computer equipment, ensuring that they meet quality standards and performance requirements before being reintroduced to the market. Your primary focus will be on design of experiments, auditing, and process optimization to restore functionality, upgrading components, and implementing necessary steps to optimize the performance and extend the life cycle of our computers or other Hardware.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspection and Diagnostics: Conduct thorough audit of incoming computers and hardware to identify issues and assess refurbishment requirements. Perform diagnostics to pinpoint hardware and software issues.
- Refurbishment and Upgrades: Modify production process to optimize remanufacturing flow for throughput and quality, and upgrade hardware to improve overall performance and extend the lifespan of computers. Install and configure operating systems and software.
- Quality Control: Implement rigorous testing procedures to ensure that refurbished computers meet quality standards and performance benchmarks. Identify and resolve any issues to guarantee customer satisfaction.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of refurbishment processes, including repairs, replacements, and upgrades. Document any issues encountered and solutions applied during the refurbishment.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, including technicians, to share expertise and collaborate on complex refurbishment projects. Provide support and guidance as needed.
- Research and Development: Stay updated on the latest technologies and trends in computer hardware and refurbishment techniques. Explore and recommend innovative approaches to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the refurbishment process.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Electrical/Mechanical/Chemical/Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in computer manufacturing, image development, testing or a similar field. Proven track record of successful projects. Familiarity in Modern PC, FMEA, 8D, cosmetic painting processes, Design of Experiment or relevant experiences in PC remanufacturing and testing are a plus.
- Strong knowledge of computer hardware components and troubleshooting techniques.
- Proficiency in hardware and software diagnostics tools.
- Experience with operating systems, including Windows, macOS, and Chrome.
Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Meticulous attention to detail to ensure the thorough inspection and accurate refurbishment of computers.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Willingness to share knowledge and provide assistance to colleagues.
