We are seeking to recruit a graduate level practitioner to provide guided self-help therapy and parenting interventions. These posts are salaried at NHS Agenda for Change band 4 and fully funded for a one year post graduate diploma in Education Mental Health Practice through Kings College London. Further intensive supervision and on the job training will be provided by an experienced supervisor within each team. Successful candidates will be employed on a full-time basis on a 12month fixed term contract within the Waltham Forest Mental Health Support Team delivering individual, group and workshop-based mental health interventions within a borough-based cluster of schools. During training, the post-holders will work under close supervision to gain experience across healthcare and educational settings to enable them to gain the level of competence required to deliver high-quality, evidence-based early interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health problems. As a Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioner in NELFT you will work under clinical supervision as part of a dynamic NHS mental health team in a creative environment. Evidence-based interventions, new ideas, ways of working and supporting children and young people are actively encouraged. This modern approach requires flexibility and adaptability, and above all a passion for working with children and young people specifically in educational settings. As an NHS employee you will record your outcomes and contribute to the growing national dataset of what works and helps to support children and young people with their emotional wellbeing and mental health. The Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioner role will: Work closely as part of a team of mental health professionals delivering a wide range of evidence informed interventions, under clinical supervision (e.g. guided self-help, parenting interventions, working through teaching staff) Develop and practice evidence-based skills under clinical supervision to work directly with children, young people and families Develop and practice evidence-based skills under clinical supervision to carry out holistic and child-centered mental health assessments, including risk assessments Learn behavioural and cognitive behavioural guided self-help techniques with which to help children, young people and their families Please read the Job Description and Person Specification before applying for the role.
