Your new role
In the role you will be responsible for high level architecture & design across the cloud estate (Microsoft Azure) and help develop and build best practice architectural foundations. You will have elements of hands on implementation working closely with Cloud / DevOps / Software Engineering teams.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this role you must have experienced leading cloud architecture & strategy ideally in a SaaS environment.
You'll be an experienced cloud architect (azure preferred) with exposure operating at enterprise level as well as working with software teams on cloud implementations. You'll be experienced in building software products in an agile environment and be familiar with DevOps principals. You'll need good hands on technical experience as well as the ability to work strategically with key stakeholders across the directorate and organisation.

At Hinkley Point C (HPC) we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.

EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) established in 2023, oversees the design (basic design) and the realisation (studies, procurement, erection, testing and commissioning) of nuclear islands for new projects.

EPR-E is responsible for delivering the design for a number of NI buildings, systems and equipment contracts for the Hinkley Point C EPR Project through an integrated team, support to HPC construction and commissioning activities, and preparing design replication feasibility and engineering activities for the Sizewell C Project. Therefore, a Technical Directorate is being created, responsible for the engineering disciplines and technical expertise required to deliver the different engineering projects through integrated teams in EPR-E.

We are currently seeking a junior to mid-grade engineer to join our esteemed piping design team.

As a Piping Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in the detailed design of a 300km piping network for the Nuclear Island, overseeing the process from the outset to fabrication and erection on site. Your contributions will be integral to our Open Point and UK Design Change management processes, ensuring all impacts are accurately categorised and logged for resolution.

- Ensuring timely delivery of piping work packages and resolve issues blocking design maturity to support HPC installation schedule.

As a Network System Lead Architect, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Babcock have been awarded the contract to manage and develop the UK MOD satellite network, Skynet. As part of this an extensive modernisation programme is taking place. This role will lead the team to maintain the current Network Management System for the communications network and assist in development and deployment of the architecture to modernise and enhance the system. A background in Telecoms network management and understand of current products and methodologies is essential, and any knowledge of satellite operations would be an advantage.

Day to day, you'll be responsible for specifying new Network Management Systems requirements with input from users, working with key suppliers to develop and implement a new management system for the UK Skynet network, and test and commissioning of the installed system.

Essential experience of the Network System Lead Architect:

• Proven experience of the design and operation of telecom network management systems
• Demonstratable experience in the defence or telecommunication industry
• Understanding of change and configuration control process in the context of the Engineering Design Lifecycle
• Be conversant with the standards relating to the Systems Engineering discipline (e.g. ISO/IEC/IEEE15288)

What we're looking for:

• Having knowledge of RF systems is essential, especially in an EW context or similar applications such as communications or radar systems.

Your new role

You are expected to have a deep understanding of Oracle database technology, spanning multiple versions, and demonstrated by prior experience in administration or consultation. You should be capable of technical solution design, particularly in designing and configuring high availability and disaster recovery scenarios. A security-first mindset, in line with CIS Benchmarks, is crucial. You should also be adept at scalability planning, database maintenance and operations, encryption, and testing. These skills are essential for ensuring the robust and secure operation of Oracle databases.

What you need to succeed

You will need to have proven experience in Oracle Database design and build, along with a broad understanding of storage (including replication), networking, Active Directory, and server technologies (including virtualisation). You should have the demonstrated ability to present formal training to a number of delegates and/or have published technical Oracle articles in any format (blog, white paper, internal training documentation etc.). You should be able to engage in IT discussions related to availability, agility, business value, security management, disaster recovery, and data protection. An awareness of other database technologies (SQL Server) is also required. You should be fluent in PL/SQL and have experience deploying Oracle Database for Teamcenter and SAP. Accreditations in Oracle Database versions 19c & 18c are also expected. ACTIVE SC CLEARANCE IS ESSENTIAL FOR THIS ROLE.

The role

As a Principal Naval Architect, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. This is a highly prestigious position within our complex shipbuilding programme, developing designs through concept and early-stage design as well as supporting the bidding process.

Day to day:

• You will be responsible for developing and leading the delivery of technical solutions across outfitting, from concept design studies, new build bid submissions to final vessel acceptance. You are required to be lead the development of not only the technical solutions but also the individuals and teams they work in.
• You will lead design teams throughout the design lifecycle to ensure coordination and functionality of design. Support the development of the team members to support both their effective working, and their development. You will develop innovative design solutions and processes as well as produce substantiation reports for tasks undertaken including stability assessment, concept designs etc.
• You will produce technical reports and other documentation while leading the maintenance and improvement in quantity standards of outputs.
• In addition, you will belong to the wider engineering capability group and will have the opportunity to support other projects in different roles within your discipline with a focus on longer term career development.

• Either Degree qualified but HND/HNC level qualification in an Engineering discipline with extensive practical design experience in outfitting and ship design will be considered
• You will ideally be a member of a relevant institution (e.g., RINA, IET, IMechE, IMarEst etc.) and either hold Chartered engineer status or working towards Chartered engineering status and be considered a subject matter expert in your field.
