Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), University of the Arts Singapore, an esteemed arts institution with a global reputation, seeks an innovative & seasoned Programme Leader (Landscape & Architecture) at the School of 3D Design (S3DD).
3D Design is about the design of objects, environments and spaces within personal and public domains. The central focus is on improving the quality of things we use and the spaces we live in, through creative design.
Each programme in our School fosters design and creative thinking while sharpening technical capabilities. In this vital role, you will be engaged with students on an enriching and intensive journey of design education, developing key skills and learning about technologies, trends and their impact on design.
You will be pivotal to equip students in 3D design with great confidence, invaluable skills of critical analysis, design synthesis, communication, and a multidisciplinary approach to the design process.
Main Roles and Responsibilities
The role involves managing and overseeing the delivery of assigned modules for the 3D Design Diploma and Degree Programmes. You will deliver approximately 14 - 18 contact hours of teaching per week, demonstrating a high level of pedagogical competence.
A key part of the role includes contributing to curriculum development, conducting program reviews, and designing learning materials to ensure academic excellence. You will supervise and assess student projects, while also organizing and coordinating artist talks, residencies, trips, seminars, conferences, exhibitions, and other related events to enhance the learning experience.
In addition, you will be responsible for monitoring student progress and providing career guidance, while offering pastoral care and empathetic support to ensure students' overall well-being. Establishing and maintaining strong industry and institutional links is also critical to integrating academic knowledge with real-world industry practices, providing students with valuable professional connections and insights. You will also be required to contribute to interdisciplinary collaboration & research.
Requirements & Qualifications
- You should possess minimally a Master’s degree, preferably in Landscape and Urban Design, with a minimum of five years of teaching experience and/ or industry.
- A proven track record in research, knowledge exchange, or professional practice that advances the field of Landscape, Urban Design & Architecture and aligns with the objectives of the School and Academy is essential.
- To excel in this role, you should possess a positive, enthusiastic, and inspiring attitude, with the ability to engage students in their learning.
- Proficiency in both written and spoken English is required.
- A team player with strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders, including academics, educators, artists, and cultural leaders, is a pre-requisite.
