The Staff Nurse is responsible for delivering high-quality, compassionate patient care in a healthcare setting. They work as part of a multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. The Staff Nurse ensures that all clinical practices align with medical and ethical standards while maintaining patient safety and comfort.
Job Responsibilities:
- Patient Care:
- Provide direct nursing care to patients in accordance with established care plans and clinical guidelines.
- Monitor patients' physical and emotional condition and document changes in their health status.
- Administer medications, treatments, and procedures as prescribed, ensuring proper dosage and timing.
- Assist with personal care activities such as dressing, and mobility for patients with varying levels of dependency.
- Provide post-operative care, including pain management, wound care, and assisting patients with recovery.
- Ensure patient confidentiality and follow PDPA guidelines.
- Clinical Assessment:
- Perform initial assessments of patients’ medical, psychological, and social needs upon admission.
- Continually assess patient conditions, including vital signs, physical assessments, and lab results.
- Identify and report any changes in patients' health conditions to the medical team promptly.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and update care plans.
- Documentation:
- Accurately document patient care, including assessments, interventions, and outcomes, in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- Ensure timely and comprehensive documentation of patient treatments, medications, and observations.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work collaboratively with healthcare team members (doctors, allied health staff, and social workers) to provide comprehensive care.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure coordinated and patient-centered care.
- Educate patients and families on health management, post-discharge care, and lifestyle changes.
- Infection Control and Safety:
- Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a safe and sterile environment.
- Identify and report any safety hazards or potential risks to patient safety.
- Professional Development:
- Participate in continuing education programs and training to stay updated on the latest nursing practices and medical advancements.
- Attend departmental meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
- Adhere to regulatory and ethical standards for nursing practice.
Job Qualifications:
- Diploma or Degree in Nursing (e.g., RN, BSN, or equivalent).
- Valid APC.
- Excellent clinical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
