These posts are for two trust doctors, core hours only. These are full-time posts and the posts do not include overnight on-calls.

The Trust is based on two acute sites with most acute medical services and specialties duplicated on each site. The acute stroke unit, Respiratory and Cardiology wards are based at Calderdale Hospital and the specialist gastroenterology and oncology/haematology wards are based at Huddersfield.



There are weekly Medical Grand round teaching including journal club and Core medical teaching sessions in the Education Centre that covers a wide range of topics. There is separate training for non-technical skills such as handover and communication skills. CHFT has a well-equipped Clinical Skills Training Room with simulation mannequins for procedures such as chest drain insertion and central venous cannulation.
The Trust would encourage and support a doctor with obtaining their membership and any post holder preparing for MRCP and PACES will be supported. In addition we will support doctors with the sign off of competencies to allow individuals to apply for higher training.

The post holder will undertake a 12–14 month training programme as a Healthcare Science Level 2 Apprentice within the Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust (CHFT). It is also an exciting opportunity to work in the new Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC's) Spoke and Hub in the heart of the Halifax and Huddersfield communities. Formal training will be given where the successful candidate can learn and develop skills and knowledge relating to working in a busy cardio-respiratory department and by undertaking basic cardiology and respiratory diagnostic tests. Study will take place in partnership with the Sheffield College.

This is a full-time post and there is an expectation that the apprentice will need to commit to self-directed study, attend Sheffield college virtually and in person, and successfully complete the training programme within the contract period. We employ more than 6,500 staff who deliver compassionate care from our two main hospitals, Calderdale Royal Hospital and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary as well as in community sites, health centres and in patients’ homes. We also are incredibly proud to have almost 150 volunteers here at CHFT.

• To record electrocardiograms and produce a report
• To perform spirometry and produce a report
• To perform and measure automatic and manual blood pressure measurements
• To obtain venous blood samples when needed
• To set up and fit a cardiac monitor, 24-hour ambulatory ECG monitor, and a 24hr ambulatory blood pressure monitor
• To prepare equipment and clinical areas for Cardiology investigations
• Receive and assist patients and/or carers to prepare for Cardiology investigations
• Obtain additional information that will assist with planning and preparing of Cardiology investigations
• Support patients and/or carers during investigative Cardiology procedures
• To take an active role in the resuscitation of patients (Basic Life Support)
• To give support advise to patients and/or carers/medical team following completion of investigative Cardiology procedures
• To organise the patient journey and assist in the Cardiology clinics if required
• To chaperone Cardiology medical staff in the above
• Follow manufacturers/protocol instructions and operate equipment
• Assess and maintain equipment and devices for safe use during Cardio-respiratory investigations
• Report faulty equipment to the Team Leader
• Communicate technical equipment-related information to healthcare colleagues, patients, carers, and suppliers
• Use safe manual handling techniques when moving both patients and equipment
• Contacts medical/nursing staff to advise of adverse/life-threatening test results
• Follow departmental and national policies and procedures to maintain safe practice
• To undertake clerical duties as required including sending out appointments using the trust systems, filing, photocopying, and handling incoming and outgoing post
• To organise and prepare patients information, ready for investigation collect notes and identify as correct on equipment as necessary
• Records personally generated information and update records. Also to learn how to input results of investigations performed by other members of staff
• To attend to general tidiness of department including unpacking and storage of ward stock deliveries
• Assist with maintaining stock levels and supplies.
• To answer the telephone and relay messages appropriately
• To undertake department errands as required
• Assist in the safe use, custody and maintenance of equipment, utilising resources effectively and efficiently.
• When required to, act flexibly within the role which may include moving to other sites within the trust and/or change to duties in consultation with your line manager.

The future holds a prosperous event calendar ahead, we are seeking Event Safety Stewards to join our ever-expanding teams, providing support at a variety of major and well establish venues.

The role of an Event Safety Steward is largely focused on customer service so you will need to be confident and approachable with a polite and friendly demeanor.

Whether you’re looking for lots of work or just a handful of shifts, our casual contract offers you great flexibility. However, you must be able to work some Friday and/ or Saturday shifts (but not necessarily every week).

In addition to local work, you will have the opportunity to work at venues and events further afield if you are willing and able to do so! Establish positive relationships with the people we provide care for within professional boundaries, promoting dignity, choice, and respect Working with people to encourage them to be able and independent by providing support and personal care to a range of service users in vastly different circumstances. Providing personal care, including washing, dressing, toileting, shaving, mouth care, catheter care, feeding, and meal preparation, with the objective of encouraging people to do these tasks independently. Support and enable service users to improve or maintain their mobility through exercise and the use of mobility appliances or fitting equipment ifappropriate. Recording/Documentation accurately. Read, respond, and act upon support plans, risk assessments, manual handling assessments, medication profiles, and other written information within the person's home. IT skills by completing mileage, booking A/L, toil, and applying for internal training on the system. Assist people, where appropriate, manage and take their prescribed medication according to their individualised medication profile and medication policy, be competent in dispensing medication from boxes and bottles, applying pain patches, contact chemist re medication, collection, and delivery prescriptions. Be competent in assisting a service user with stoma care and catheter care to recognise risks and report concerns to the appropriate person. Assess for equipment, assistive technology, and minor / major adaptations. To consider any preventative measures necessary to maintain independence, provide equipment, demonstrate, and instruct individuals, carers, and other professionals in the safe use of and provide ongoing training when required. Work will be carried out in patients own homes and the activities will include: a) Implementing treatment to protocols and based on competencies. b) Monitoring progress and feeding back to the registered practitioner or assistant practitioner c) Making minor adjustments to treatment programmes within predetermined limits d) Assisting registered practitioners with complex treatment. e) Community participation: support the individual and their families to identify community activities that will support the individual to maintain their connections with themselves, the people, and the environment surrounding them. f) Ability to use technology and interpret data to inform Reablement plans Attend training as identified through appraisal, in line with national minimum care standards, Skills Training and Council policy, and be proactive in any development opportunities as they arise. To assist in the induction of new colleagues and to maintain positive relationships within the team and beyond. Support and participate in treatment/exercise regimes and rehabilitation plans identified by other team members undertaking basic nursing, occupational therapy and physiotherapy roles following appropriate training, i.e., putting a splint on foot and following the exercise regime laid out, use of walking aids, deliver, and fit equipment. The initiative, to have a responsible attitude and a creative approach, to be open, you try new ways of working with service users and their carers. The ability to work alone and use your own initiative, however, also raise any issues that you feel need supervisory support and may have to deal with any emergency. Will be required to work in the homes of our service users. The types homes include houses, flats, sheltered housing, caravans, etc. some of which may be unpleasant or disagreeable, referring the difficult situations to the Locality Manager or Community Service Manager.
