What you’ll be doing

The Senior Director, Head of Fixed Income Market Risk has the mandate to lead the groups responsible for the ‘second line of defense’ governing the following areas of oversight: Global Fixed Income Trading Risk, Interest Rate Derivatives, Bond Trading, Money Markets, and Structured Rates Trading. What you’ll be doing

The Senior Director, Tax Advisory is a comprehensive leader responsible for providing specialized advice on a wide range of domestic and international tax issues. The Senior Director, Tax Advisory will work closely with International Tax & Transfer Pricing colleagues to support to stakeholders across the bank and assess the international tax and transfer pricing implications of cross-border transactions.

How you’ll succeed

• Product/Business Related Tax Advisory & Planning- Engage in a broad range of tax advisory & planning matters pertaining to business and product offerings. Keep abreast of legislative and administrative changes, inform impacted stakeholders and recommend and assist in the implementation of necessary changes.
• Product/Business Related International Tax Dimensions - Lead and manage the coordination of tax advice for new & on-going product/business initiatives across multiple jurisdictions. Liaise with International Tax & Transfer Pricing colleagues in assessing the international tax and transfer pricing implications of cross-border transactions.
• Risk Analysis - Identify, assess and analyze the Canadian & International tax dimensions of a transaction. Manage key areas of tax risk and opportunity and provide recommendations to business partners.
• Strategic Partnership- Develop relationships and partnerships with stakeholders at all levels within CIBC in order to effectively manage the delivery of tax services, as well as collaborating with external advisors as required. This job interfaces with various personnel within the Taxation, Finance, Treasury, Strategic Business Unit groups. This position works with government authorities and industry groups.

Who you are

• You are certified- CPA designation or a Bachelor of Law degree with a minimum of 7 or more years of tax experience. Completed levels I and II of the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course or a Masters of Taxation.
• You have comprehensive knowledge of Canadian taxation - Experience with Canadian domestic & international taxation matters impacting products/business offerings and/or experience managing foreign tax advice across multiple jurisdictions.
• You are an industry expert- Exposure to the financial services industry would be regarded as an asset however, consideration will be given to candidates with less experience but who have a strong interest and desire to learn the financial services business
• Data Expert- Excellent research and analytical skills. Advanced problem-solving skills and ability to implement the solutions. Decisive, confident and comfortable working closely with and collaborating with business partners. Results-oriented, self-motivated, proactive and proven ability to work independently.
