We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Care Team Leader to support M, a 25-year-old male with quadriplegic cerebral palsy, challenging behaviours, a history of epilepsy, and a brain injury caused by asphyxia at birth. M lives independently in his own home with 24/7 assistance from a team of support workers. This role requires a compassionate, motivated, and enthusiastic individual to lead and support a team of care staff, ensuring M's needs are met with the highest standards of care.
Pay: £16.81 - 19.05 per hour*
Hours: Minimum 36 hours per week
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading a team of support workers to assist M with daily tasks, ensuring timely and efficient support.
- Implementing and monitoring Positive Behavioural Support strategies to manage M's behaviour.
- Administering and monitoring M's medication as required.
- Supporting M in developing his independence, functional skills, and participating in community activities.
- Supervising and supporting staff through regular supervision, appraisals, and ongoing professional development.
- Ensuring staff are familiar with and adhere to M's care plans, including managing interactions with people of concern.
- Utilising CPI training, Positive Behavioural Support techniques and reinforcement to manage challenging behaviours and ensure M's emotional well-being.
- Maintaining close communication with M's family and friends and supporting their involvement in his care.
Requirements:
- Experience in an equivalent role within health and social care.
- Experience supporting individuals with brain injuries, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, learning difficulties, and challenging behaviours.
- NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification is highly desirable.
- Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends, and provide additional cover when required.
- Full driving license is essential as M's care package may involve utilising his vehicle.
