The successful candidate will be expected to work at a senior clinical fellow level within this team and will be required to work in the operating theatre, take part in daily ward rounds, assist in out-patient clinics, participate in MDT meetings, and perform other relevant work as directed by the Consultants. The post-holder will also be required to participate in the sub-specialty on-call rota for liver transplant (supported by a consultant). This post is EWTD compliant and attracts a banding of 1A. It is not recognised by the Deanery for training, however, opportunities may be available for some of the post-holders to join the active postgraduate research programme within the department including, where appropriate, registration for a higher degree. As a senior member of the IT Clinical Systems Team the post holder is responsible for delivering and developing a share of the Epic and other software systems configuration build and; for supporting non-Epic systems within their team, working with Medical Device Integration (MDI), KCH, GSTT and ITCS technology colleagues and; overseeing the work of the Band 6 Analyst. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic pharmacist with excellent clinical and interpersonal skills to lead a high-quality clinical pharmacy service to Adult Diabetes Services at UCLH.

Adult Diabetes Services are part of the Medical Specialties Division, which incorporates a wide range of different clinical specialties, with both an inpatient and outpatient focus.


The Adult Diabetes Service consists of a multidisciplinary team of consultants, specialist registrars, associate specialists, clinical nurse specialists, dieticians and podiatrists working together closely to support and improve the health of people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes across inpatient and outpatient care settings.

The post holder will work as part of the Medicine and Emergency Services pharmacy team to deliver a comprehensive clinical pharmacy service to Adult Diabetes Services, and where relevant the Medical Specialties Division, and collaborate with primary care and other organisations across the North Central London Integrated Care System, to improve patient care in hospital and community settings.

You will lead the day-to-day clinical pharmacy service to the UCLH Adult Diabetes Services, working closely with the Adult Diabetes team and wider MDT to improve the care of patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

You will attend relevant MDT clinical huddles and ward rounds to promote safe practice by reducing medicines related harm during transitions of care, and drive cost effective and evidence-based practice.

As part of the diabetes MDT, you will use your clinical knowledge, skills and experience to inform therapeutic decision making, and use your independent prescribing skills to optimise diabetes medication regimens.

You will act as an expert resource and a point of contact for the diabetes MDT, other UCLH staff, and patients requiring information about diabetes medicines.

Through service evaluations and quality improvement projects, you will work to develop and enhance our existing systems and processes in relation to safety, efficiency, and productivity using Epic®, the UCLH Electronic Health Records System.

You will develop, implement and maintain clinical pathways relating to complex regimens or the use high-cost drugs by working collaboratively with local primary care organisations across the NCL ICS geography to improve patients’ care in hospital and community settings.

This position offers the successful candidate the opportunity to join an established department dealing with all aspects of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. The department at The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is run by 5 Consultant Maxillofacial Surgeons and 3 Consultant Orthodontists.

This post is based at Chase Farm and Barnet Hospitals with satellite clinics at the Royal Free and Edgware Community Hospitals. Adult elective surgery is centralised to a dedicated theatre at Chase Farm with paediatric surgery at Barnet Hospital. The on-call service and emergency service is based at Barnet Hospital where the first tier of on call consists of nine junior staff (6 DF1/2 and 3 Trust Doctors) on a compliant 48hr full shift rota with 1 in 6 middle tier nights and a weekend middle grade non-resident on-call cover based at Barnet Hospital.
