Catering Assistant
Derwentside Immigration Removal Centre, DH8 6QY
Salary
- £24,250 per annumPermanent (Full-Time, 40 Hrs
- shift pattern 8.30am-4.30pm
- 4 days per week including weekends)
Here at Serco, we are looking for a Catering Assistant to ensure all catering deliveries are checked and put away, stock rotated, and all catering store areas are kept clean and tidy. You will assist the Chef in the preparation of the daily menu and general running of the kitchen.
The successful candidate will be required to carry out the following responsibilities, activities, and duties:
- To assist in maintaining an exceptionally high standard of food production service and food hygiene.
- To assist the chef in the daily production of food.
- To always maintain the preparation and work areas in a clean and hygienic condition and the thorough cleaning of these areas, including equipment after each service.
- To observe all statutory health and hygiene regulations and reporting any hazards you may encounter in your place of work.
- To check deliveries against purchase orders and highlight any problems.
- To issue stock as required in accordance with company procedures.
- To deal with stock invoice queries and monitor stock movement within the catering department.
- To assist the catering manager in all aspects of running the kitchen.
- Maintaining security processes and dynamics in the area of work.
- Ensure Health & Safety procedures are closely followed.
What you will need to do the role:
- Basic computer skills – including Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- City & Guilds 706/1&2 or equivalent SVQ/NVQ or similar in Food Preparation and Production.
- Food Safety level 2 or 3.
- Awareness of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP).
- Awareness of allergen control within catering.
- Large-scale catering experience such as armed forces or hospitals would be desirable.
- Experience working in high-pressured catering operations would be desirable.
