Trainee Traffic Management Operatives – Torquay

Our clients require Traffic Management Operatives to carry out tasks such as setting up temporary traffic lights, manning road closures ensuring all schemes run smoothly and efficiently during each working day.

Due to the nature of the industry each role would require a certain flexibility and must be able to work both days and nights, including some weekends as required.

Successful candidates for the role of TM Operative should have

Hours of work:

Monday – Friday, days or nights with some weekend and bank holidays when required

Rate of Pay:

Up to £144 per shift to start with increased payments for weekend and bank holiday work

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. CLINICAL 1.1. Under supervision and with support delivers low intensity treatments to patients with mild to moderate presentations of anxiety and depression 1.2. Proactive in identifying learning opportunities as a trainee PWP within service, utilises available support and resources. 1.3. Assess and support people with a common mental health problems in the self-management of their recovery. 1.4. Undertakes patient centered assessments which identify areas where the person wishes to see change and or recovery and makes an accurate assessment of risk to self and others. 1.5. Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to the departments referral protocols, and refer clients on to the relevant service or back to the referral agent as necessary or step up the persons treatment to high intensity in conjunction with clinical supervision. 1.6. Provide a range of information and support for evidence based high volume low intensity psychological treatments. This may include guided self help, computerised CBT, information about pharmacological treatments. This work may be face to face, telephone or via video call. 1.7. Educate and involve family members and others in treatment as necessary and appropriate. 1.8. Adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to the number of patient contacts offered, and clinical sessions carried out per week in order to minimise waiting times and ensure treatment delivery remains accessible and convenient. 1.9. Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or patients in treatment, where appropriate. 1.10. Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service. 1.11. Keep coherent records of all clinical activity and patient contact in line with service protocols 1.12. Work closely with other members of the team ensuring appropriate step-up and step-down arrangements are in place to maintain a stepped care approach. 1.13. Assess and integrate issues surrounding work and employment into the overall therapy process 1.14. Develop risk assessment skills to support patients access the appropriate and safe level of support. 2. PROFESSIONAL 2.1. Ensure the maintenance of standards of practice according to the employer and any regulating and keep up to date on new recommendations/guidelines set by the department of health (e.g NHS plan, National Service Framework, National Institute for Clinical Excellence). 2.2. Ensure that patient confidentiality is protected at all times. 2.3. Be aware of and keep up to date with advances in the modalities of treatment for common mental health problems. 2.4. Ensure clear objectives are identified, discussed and reviewed with supervisors and/or line managers on a regular basis as part of continuing professional development. 2.5. Attend clinical / managerial supervision on a regular basis as agreed with Manager. 2.6. Participate in individual performance review and respond to agreed objectives. 2.7. Keep up to date all records in relation to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and ensure personal development plan maintains up to date specialist knowledge of latest theoretical and service delivery models/developments. 2.8. Attend relevant conferences / workshops in line with identified professional objectives. 2.9. To attend 100% of the PWP training programme provided by Exeter University and to complete the components of the course as set out by the University. 3. GENERAL 3.1. To contribute to the development of best practice within the service. 3.2. To maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies and procedures in relation to Mental Health and Primary Care Services. 3.3. The Trainee Surveyor role:

You’ll have responsibility from day one; your time will be split between “on the job” training and working on live projects/contracts. You’ll learn all the skills you’ll need for a bright future in our growing business from our experienced Surveyors, Managing Surveyors, Commercial Managers and Business Managers.

Who you are

As a minimum you will need to be educated to at least A-level standard, or equivalent i.e Level 3. You will have achieved a Maths GCSE (or equivalent) grade 4/C or above.

Although not essential to your application, a surveying related qualification, or industry experience would be advantageous.

You may have completed some work experience in the industry already, or be completely new to it – but either way we would expect you to show passion and acknowledgment/ understanding for the work we do.

You would describe yourself as having a logical, analytical approach, an interest in numeracy/ maths, excellent IT skills. THE ROLE:

Our successful Utilities Department has an exciting opportunity for five telephone advisers to join our growing team in November.

As an adviser, you’ll be giving advice to clients with debt & energy issues to help them make informed decisions and find solutions. The role is fully telephone based. It can sometimes be a challenging role, but you will be fully trained and supported, working as a part of an approachable and supportive team in a rewarding environment to provide the best possible service to people across England, Wales, and Scotland.

Guiding and empowering clients by explaining options and implications.
Advising clients on sustainable budgeting, income maximisation and money management over the phone.
Assessing household income and supporting with charitable grant applications.

The Trainee Surveyor role:

You’ll have responsibility from day one; your time will be split between “on the job” training and working on live projects, within one of our Products, Capital (Refurbishment works) or Painting and Decorating. You’ll learn all the skills you need for a bright future in our business from our experienced Surveyors and Business Managers.

How will you do this?


Initially supporting, but developing responsibility for the financial and technical aspects of the contract, including procurement, invoicing, payments, cash flow and cost control
You will learn to understand how to create cost efficiencies where possible, maximising value and ultimately making a profit.
Collaboration- you will meet and work with direct labour and subcontractors, understanding their roles and expectations of the service we deliver in the response product.
We will instil confidence in your communication, to develop and maintain relationships with your team, customers, subcontractors, suppliers, and our client.
You will learn how to procure materials and sub-contractors, through negotiation skills.
You will support and learn how to produce monthly commercial reports, including Cost Value Reconciliations, so you become accountable for the cost and profit of the contract. 
As your training progresses, you will be involved in tendering and winning new work and managing relationships with our key clients.


You may not identify with all the terminology, but that is where the Trainee Surveyor programme, your mentor and the business will support you in your development journey.

You will join other trainees in attending a structured modular training programme delivered by our own Academy, and you could also achieve further professional qualifications externally i.e. Level 4 Apprenticeship Quantity Surveying.

On completion of your training scheme, you will begin on the Ian Williams Surveyor pathway, and we are proud to say that many of our trainees have progressed to management roles within Ian Williams.

Who you are

You would describe yourself as having a logical, analytical approach, an interest in numeracy/ maths, excellent IT skills. You enjoy engaging with a wide variety of people, whether its building rapport within the team or building relations with new contacts.   

As a minimum you will need to be educated to at least A-level standard, or equivalent i.e. Level 3.  You will have achieved a Maths GCSE (or equivalent) grade 4/C or above.

You may have completed some work experience in the industry already or be completely new to it – but either way we would expect you to show passion and understanding for the work we do.
