Applications are invited from suitably qualified psychologists with the experience, skills and competencies to undertake the duties and responsibilities of the above post in adult mental health. The post is primarily to provide assessment, psychological therapy and consultation for the care of service users within the Blackburn with Darwen areas.

The teams provide services to people with complex mental health needs. Psychological therapies and psychologically informed care are valued within the teams and network, and are fully integrated within mainstream adult mental health services. The post holder will be operationally managed within the teams as a core team member, while strong professional leadership works alongside operational management to support the role.

An interest in working with individuals experiencing significant levels of complexity and personality difficulties will be essential. Good team working skills are also essential, as are abilities in providing consultation / supervision to team colleagues and other psychological therapists. Skills in group approaches, or an interest in developing these, would be an asset.

The post holder will develop links with psychological therapists within other CMHTs and specialist networks. Clinical and professional supervision is provided, and a growing network of complex case fora and psychological therapy models afford excellent opportunities for the post holder to develop their skills in multidisciplinary team working and psychologically informed care.

What You Will Do:

Persistent and severe absence from school is having a huge impact on the education and life outcomes of young people across the UK. Absence rates are too high, and we want to provide structured support to get young people back into the classroom.It is our mission is to provide mentorship support to persistently absent secondary school students across the UK. We are seeking individuals passionate about supporting young people, through mentorship, to achieve better attendance outcomes.The OpportunityAs an Attendance Mentor you will manage a caseload of pupils, developing a trusting relationship to provide mentoring support to severely or persistently absent pupils, in a school setting, with the clear aim of improving their individual attendance rates.This will involve working with each pupil’s caregivers and school to understand the barriers to attendance and creating practical action plans to improve attendance.In addition, key aspects of the role include (but are not limited to) the following:Creating a meaningful action plan, outlining practical support measures, actions, and goalsFollowing key administrative and data process to capture and record important project informationWorking closely with school staff (and other stakeholders) to ensure cohesive and holistic pupil approaches are in place.Undertaking all CPD required for the mentor role including a Level 3 qualification;Improving school attendance for those that you mentor.The PersonSuccessful candidates will ideally have prior experience in Mentorship and/or School Attendance barrier programmes, along with a working knowledge and experience in safeguarding practice. However, we are very keen to speak with those from a variety of related backgrounds (as full training will be provided): for example, school support staff and youth workers.Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this role.
