Program Manager, Georgetown Tech Ventures - Office of Technology Commercialization - Georgetown University
Georgetown University’s Office of Technology Commercialization is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Program Manager to provide oversight over the Georgetown Tech Ventures program.
Georgetown Tech Ventures (GTV) is an initiative recently funded through the Economic Development Authority (EDA) and housed within Georgetown’s Office of Technology Commercialization. Through its GTV program, Georgetown will implement a new research translation program focused on enabling technology-based startups to effectively contribute to the economic ecosystem. The goal of GTV is to assist new startups in the essential role of advancing innovation using proven strategies: (1) outreach and recruitment of diverse local innovators and entrepreneurs; (2) cultivation of external relationships with industry partners and investors/incubators/accelerators; (3) training for new inventors, including customer discovery training; (4) mentorship; (5) startup support services; and (6) cultivation of a university culture of entrepreneurship and research translation.
The Program Manager - in a 3 year grant funded role - is responsible for developing and managing programs contemplated under the GTV project in partnership with other members of OTC and Georgetown’s Entrepreneurship Initiative at the McDonough School of Business (MSB).
Work Interactions and Work Mode Designation
Reporting to the VP for Technology commercialization, the Program Manager works closely with all OTC staff and other colleagues as needed. They work independently or as part of the OTC team and others at the university to accomplish major mission/directives of the Georgetown Tech Ventures program.
They support, communicate and understand program initiatives, curriculum, requirements, and deliverables; cooperatively work with University departments and/or community to effectively accomplish program deliverables; collaborate with team members to identify program resources, information needs and follow up; and provide excellent verbal and written communication and feedback as required.
This position has been designated as Hybrid. Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed in order to meet the evolving needs of the University. Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as business administration, entrepreneurship, or related field - preference for a Master’s degree, MBA, or equivalent
- At least 2-3 years of related experience in program management or operational management support role - preference for 4-5 years
- Strong attention to detail and excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment are critical
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint as well Google Suite
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated professional knowledge and operational expertise within designated area of program focus
- Strong program planning, development, implementation, management and leadership skills
- Ability to design, develop and deliver both oral and written presentations
- Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart information in an accurate, concise and professional manner
- Proven experience in outreach, networking, and fostering innovation
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community
- Ability to represent program, department, and University in a positive and productive manner at all times
Preferred Requirements and Qualifications
- Knowledge of technology transfer and research commercialization or related areas
- Familiarity with the startup ecosystem and entrepreneurial process
- Experience with DocuSign, Adobe, databases, website management tools
