Job Title: Autism Teaching Assistant
Location: Bamber Bridge
Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate and compassionate Autism Teaching Assistant to join our team. As an integral part of our educational community, you will work closely with teachers and therapists to create a supportive learning environment where students with ASD can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with ASD, assisting with academic tasks, social interactions, and behavioral management.
- Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavioral intervention plans (BIPs) under the guidance of teachers and therapists.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment by promoting understanding, acceptance, and respect for neurodiversity.
- Assist with the development and implementation of visual supports, communication tools, and sensory strategies to enhance learning and engagement.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to monitor student progress, identify areas of growth, and adjust interventions as needed.
- Support students during transitions between activities, classrooms, and environments, providing guidance and reassurance.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, behavior, and interventions, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with regulations.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder preferred, but not required.
- Understanding of autism and its impact on learning, behavior, and social-emotional development.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to make a positive difference in the lives of students with ASD.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external stakeholders.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
- Willingness to participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

All pay rates that are offered will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. Our working opportunities include temporary positions, permanent contracts and ad-hoc supply.
