Social Work Resources
Location: Emergency Social Work Services, Hamilton Business Unit, Pollock Avenue, Hamilton, ML3 9SZ
Hours: 17.5 hours – Shifts : Wk1 - Thursday/Friday 16:30 to 01:45, WK2 - Saturday/Sunday 16:30 to 01:45, WK3 - Saturday/Sunday 07:45-17:00
The Emergency Social Work Service has been operational since March 2009. The Emergency Social Work Service provides an ‘Out of Hours’ point of contact for vulnerable service users and other agencies working with vulnerable service users ‘Out of Hours.’
The Emergency Social Work Service has been continuing to develop its service provision ‘Outwith Hours’ and includes the following key areas:
- Child Protection
- Adult Support and Protection
- Home Care Services
- Appropriate Adult Services
- Child Care and Adult/Older People concerns
- Crisis Intervention
The following competences are essential requirements for all staff:
- Call Handling
- Assessment
- Communication (Both written and verbal)
- IT, particularly in the use of SWiSplus.
- Team Working
- Partnership Working
- Crisis Intervention
- Organisational Skills
- Meeting deadlines
Requirements
Recruitment Checks
As part of our approach to good practice and safer recruitment we carry out a number of pre-employment checks for example, Identity, Asylum and Immigration and employment history.
Foreign Police Check
Candidates should be able to detail any gaps in employment and provide a foreign police check where applicable for any periods living or working abroad.

Regulated Work with Protected Adults
This post is considered Regulated Work with Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with protected adults.
Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by South Lanarkshire Council.
