A great opportunity has arisen for someone to take the next step in their career in our EPOC as a Sister/Nurse.
The EPOC unit is a 7 bedded Unit caring for higher risk elective surgical patients. Here we aim to provide an environment with a higher acuity of interventions, monitoring and nursing ratios to facilitate the highest standards of nursing care. Patients are identified pre-operatively as requiring an enhanced level of care for 24-48 hours post-operatively.
To be the nurse lead nurse for the Enhanced Perioperative Care Unit (EPOC) providing effective, professional nursing leadership and direction for the nursing workforce and the wider department team.
To be a highly competent, knowledgeable and visible practitioner setting the highest standards of care and ensuring the provision of appropriate, evidence based care for all patients/clients.
To ensure the safe, effective management of all workforce and financial resources within their clinical area.
To demonstrate an innovative and progressive attitude to continual improvement of patient care.
As part of the multi-disciplinary team, and under the supervision of the Clinical Matron, the post-holder will utilise their specialist knowledge and skills to:
Provide support to patients and staff in the delivery of high standards of patient assessment at all times, collaborate with other health care professionals as required and challenging and ensuring others challenge poor practise, in accordance with the NMC Professional code and Trust policies and procedures.
Ensure agreed systems and processes to consistently provide safe, effective, high quality care and embed a culture of improvement, focusing on the Trust’s harm-free indicators, measuring practice and using variations in the data to develop local improvement projects are in place.
Promote and maintain a safe, welcoming and comfortable environment for the patients, carers, and staff, ensuring that all are received in a professional and courteous manner.
Understand and apply the legal safeguarding framework that supports the identification of vulnerable and abused adults/children and be aware of statutory vulnerable patients’ health procedures and Trust guidance.
