A rare and exciting development opportunity has arisen for an individual to work within the haematology clinical nurse specialist team. This would suit a nurse with a special interest in haematology and stem-cell transplant/apheresis. The Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust is looking to recruit a substantive Consultant Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon.

The successful candidate will complete a group of six Consultant Vascular Surgeons. Our friendly, dynamic team is supported by Registrars, junior doctors, clinical fellows and two vascular nurse specialists in providing high quality vascular services across the County, which in turn provides an excellent working and living environment.

The post holder will provide emergency vascular surgery as part of a 1:6 consultant rota incorporating Consultant of The Week on a 24/7 basis. This is supported by a 24/7 Interventional Radiology Rota

We provide a full range of inpatient elective & non-elective operating services and day case sessions. Outpatient clinics are held across a variety of community hospitals within Cornwall. Major arterial vascular work is delivered at the Treliske site with access to a hybrid suite. Vascular Consultants have elective commitments at satellite hospitals and / or outreach facilities. We’ve a dedicated multidisciplinary diabetic foot service. There are strong working relationships with Interventional Radiology, with a complex EVAR service and a well-established renal access programme. A regular programme of service and educational meetings underpins the service, plus a commitment to audit and teaching.

This is a replacement posts for one of our substantive Consultant Vascular Surgeons and has a remuneration of 10 PAs.

We are looking for a highly motivated person to assist in the provision of Medical Equipment Library services. This post will involve occasional travel to West Cornwall and St Michael’s hospitals to deliver/retrieve medical devices. The purpose of this post is to ensure the efficient and effective management of the Medical Equipment Library services across 3 sites. The post holder will offer effective, customer-friendly service provision to wards and clinical departments, ensuring prompt and accurate responses to requests for equipment, advice and technical support. Control and ordering of specialist dressing products together with ensuring the Trust has adequate mattress provision.

The post holder will be expected to work as an integral part of the Clinical Technology team whilst working closely with Medical Device Technicians, as well as liaising with external manufacturers, and organising staff to ensure adequate Library coverage is always in place. The post holder will also represent the Library as a mobile “front of house” function, being the team’s liaison with wards/departments to proactively seek medical devices that require maintenance and swap out with other devices or liaising to ensure maintenance arrangements are in place and ensuring best use is made of in-team technical ability. The post holder will decontaminate medical equipment prior to inspecting the equipment.

The post holder will:

Coordinate, deliver and collect medical equipment library resources and service provision across the three hospital sites.

Input to a bespoke work recording and asset management system for work carried out, devices provided to wards and consumables.

Work according to the policies and procedures of the Trust, particularly concerning medical device management, infection control and decontamination.

Flexible working will be required as the role involves out-of-hours and weekend work.

The Department of Clinical Technology (DCT) manages the maintenance of medical devices for RCHT and CFT, The Medical Equipment Library which is a team within DCT provides selected medical devices and consumables to wards and departments across the 3 RCHT sites.

We are looking for a new Head of Patient Safety to provide senior leadership and operational delivery of the NHS Patient Safety Strategy and Incident Response Framework across the organisation. We are looking to appoint a cheerful and motivated person to work within the busy Outpatient Booking Services, managing outpatient appointments in a call centre environment.

The Outpatient Booking Services provides a focal point for outpatient appointments across the Trust and is responsible for the management of both new and follow up outpatient appointments. It is a very busy and demanding area to work, working in a call centre environment. The offices are open between 8.30am and 4.30pm.

The Appointment Administrator will be responsible for the management of outpatient referrals. You will need to be able to work in a calm, logical and methodical way but be able to multi-task whilst dealing with frequent interruptions, whilst always maintaining patient confidentiality.

You must be confident, diplomatic and able to work in a busy call centre environment with a pleasant and caring disposition. You will be required to have a good level of education and have some experience and knowledge of the NHS and ideally experienced in the use of the Outpatient Module of the Patient Administration System, e-Referrals, Maxims and Microsoft Word.

This role is based in Pydar House, Truro.

To provide a quality outpatient appointment service for all patients. This is a senior band 7 post working at the front door with the Acute Care of the Elderly medical teams and front door therapy teams to holistically assess the older frail patient using their knowledge of Clinical Frailty Scoring and acute care needs to ensure the correct clinical pathways are applied to achieve the best outcomes for this patient group.

You must be passionate about older peoples care and demonstrate a commitment to ensuring a positive journey is achieved by using your specialist knowledge and skills to establish the correct pathway either back out to the community or within acute care where indicated. Avoiding hospital admissions and reducing length of stays is an integral part of this role and your specialist assessment and follow up of the patient’s care will demonstrate the key performance indicators of this role.

You will be expected to work both autonomously and within a team and achieve your Non-medical Nurse prescriber qualification for which you can expect to be fully supported. This role will form part of the foundation for a further career pathway in older people’s services as the care group explore Advanced nurse practitioner nursing roles for the future.

Working within the Integrated Services for Older Peoples and Acute care of the Elderly (ISOP/ACE) Team, you will be responsible for delivering effective comprehensive assessment and management of a designated cohort of complex frail and vulnerable older adults in our acute care services (specifically in the Emergency Department and on the Older Peoples Assessment and Liaison and Frailty Units.
