This post is designed to strengthen the midwifery contribution to the public health agenda for women and families in Islington, Haringey and others outside these Boroughs who choose Whittington Health for their maternity care. Specifically, setting in place strategies and frameworks to address inequalities in health and access to health care for vulnerable women. The post holder will provide clinical leadership; advice and support to all colleagues providing midwifery care in primary and secondary care settings. S/he will be an expert practitioner and source of expertise for the multi-professional and organisational team involved in providing health care for pregnant women from vulnerable groups. The Midwife Consultant for Public Health and Education will contribute some time to midwifery clinical practice. The expectations of this post will be met through professional leadership, consultancy, education and training, research, audit and evaluation, practice and service development. The focus of the role is to use midwifery expertise to define the public health role of the midwife, incorporating pre-conception advice, health promotion, services to support pregnant teenagers, smoking cessation, the effects and implications of domestic violence, drug and alcohol abuse, breastfeeding rates, parenting skills, postnatal examination, mental health, child protection and womens health. Main Duties and Responsibilities 1. Your primary duty is to manage the Security operations, ensuring the safety and security of all persons and properties at Kings College Hospital, promoting public reassurance and reducing the fear of crime by providing a high profile visible uniformed presence. 2. To be responsible for the management, supervision and administration of security staff including: appraisals, attendance sheets, sickness / absence records, disciplinary investigations, training and the implementation of the Trusts policies and procedures. To co-ordinate all staff duties, ensuring that any staff absence is covered and that staff patrol and provide escorts as directed, whilst delegating additional tasks as necessary.
