Due to the expansion of our service, we are advertising for a permanent Band 8A Senior Clinical Scientist post in Diagnostic Radiology and Radiation safety (RP). We are looking for self-motivated and enthusiastic physicist with a few years of experience and a good background in Quality Assurance, optimisation and radiation protection/safety, to work within the Radiological Sciences Unit (RSU) at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust (ICHNT). The successful candidate will join a friendly and dynamic team delivering scientific and technical support and radiation safety services to ICHNT and a number of external organisations.

The post holder will work in collaboration with an IMT1 (GIM) doctor to provide ward cover on the Infectious Diseases ward. This will include providing excellent care for inpatients and ambulatory care reviews, including ward rounds, ward work (reviewing patients, ordering and reviewing investigations), clinics and MDTs. The post holder would be expected to actively participate in departmental activities, including teaching, audit, quality improvement activities and presentation at internal clinical seminars. The Surgery, Cancer and Cardiovascular Sciences (SCC) division is one of three divisions within Imperial College Healthcare Trust. The Vascular Surgery directorate is based at St Mary’s Hospital, Charing Cross Hospital and Hammersmith Hospital. We also support satellite services at both West Middlesex hospital and Chelsea and Westminster hospital.

We receive around 7,000 new general vascular referrals annually, including both GP and tertiary referrals. Our Vascular Surgery team currently perform over 1,500 daycase surgeries per year and 500+ inpatient operations as part of our elective care pathway. The team also perform more than 600 non-elective procedures on an annual basis.

There are 10 consultant surgeons, 5 specialist registrars, 2 clinical lecturers, 4 Research SpRs, 9 FY2/CT/Trust grades, 3 FY1s, and 4 AVNPs within the unit. The post holder will be well supported by this large clinical team.

A 12 month fixed term opportunity has arisen for a Junior Clinical Fellow within the directorate to undertake various clinical duties as well as academic responsibilities. They will work with the clinical, admin and management teams along with support services to meet the clinical, surgical and research demands on the vascular surgery service at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust with a strong emphasis on education.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Band 7 Community Cardiac Nurse post to work across our community out-patients Cardiac Services Service. Community sites are based in Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Maida Vale and Ladbroke Grove.

The post holder will be an highly experienced Cardiac Nurse to help support triaging of referrals coming into the service, support staff when there are ‘unwell patients’ in clinic and manage Band 6 and Band 3 Clinic.

The Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust’s Hepatology Clinical Research Facility (CRF) for clinical research and investigation is based on the 10thFloor of the Queen Elizabeth Queen Mother Wing at St Mary’s Campus and provides a state of the art, designated area for hepatology academics and hepatology clinicians to perform clinical research projects involving both patients with liver conditions and healthy volunteers.

The postwill specifically help Principal Investigators and the research nursing team with patient recruitment into commercially sponsored clinical drug trials (alcohol, hepatitis, and fatty liver) and the ongoing management of patients according to the study protocols.

In undertaking this role, the Clinical Research Fellow will gain experience in the management of clinical trials and novel therapeutics in chronic liver disease.

The post is initially for 6 months, but will be renewable, and is suitable for a junior grade doctor (FY2 – FY5) who has a minimum of 1 year’s post registration, recent experience of working in the NHS in a medical post, and who is looking to learn and develop clinical research skills.GMC registration and licence to practice are essential.

· Support the timely delivery of clinical studies, in-line with the requirements of sponsors, GCP (Good Clinical Practice), and other appropriate guidelines and regulations

· Provide medical assessment and cover for selected studies in the Hepatology CRF working alongside other clinical teams

Perform clinical procedures as appropriate to the assigned study (including, but not limited to, clinical examinations or testing, insertion of intravenous lines, assessment of adverse events and management of medical emergencies)

· Ensure that patients/volunteers in assigned studies give fully informed consent in writing before commencing a study

The postholder will work closely with members of the Hepatology Research team to deliver expert clinical research. They will:
• Support the delivery of clinical studies, in-line with requirements of sponsors, GCP (Good Clinical Practice), and other appropriate regulations
• Provide medical assessment and cover for studies in the Hepatology CRF
• Perform clinical trial procedures (clinical examinations, insertion of intravenous lines, assessment of adverse events and management of medical emergencies, etc)
• Ensure patients give full informed consent before starting a study
• Assess and interpret safety and clinical trial data (vital signs, ECG's, laboratory tests, AEs etc).
• Follow up and report AEs. Communicate safety issues to the Principal Investigator, report SAEs in accordance with Good Clinical Practice
• Attend clinics and provide clinical cross cover where appropriate
• Be responsible for specific study-related medical decisions as agreed with the Principal Investigator
• Assess the eligibility of patients for trials, maintain and update screening lists
• Accept delegated responsibility to ensure that trials in the Hepatology CRF are carried outsafely and in compliance with the protocol
• Evaluate and manage chronic adverse drug reactions and manage acute toxicological emergencies under the supervision of the consultants in charge
• Maintain accurate and accessible research records and medical notes
• Participate in research meetings, study review meetings and meetings with Principal Investigators and study sponsors

The Women’s Health Research Centre (WHRC) at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust / Imperial College London is at the forefront of research aimed at improving outcomes and experiences in women's reproductive health and childbirth.

At the current time, WHRC is looking to appoint a Clinical Research Assistant Practitioner to work on the Generation Study which is sponsored by Genomics England. The study focuses on screening neonates for approximately 200 rare conditions at birth using umbilical cord blood. The postholder will assist with sample collection, data management and registration of participants whilst adhering to the principles of GCP. The role will also involve ordering consumables and supporting the research team with participant recruitment.

The postholder of this new role will work within the WHRC research team and be able to develop specialist research skills with new opportunities in a vibrant and dynamic environment. There may be opportunities to work on a variety of other projects within the areas of gynaecology and maternity and the ideal candidate will have interest in the improvement of women’s health, an enthusiasm to learn, attention to detail and a willingness to work collaboratively.

The cardiac investigations service offers a full spectrum of invasive and non-invasive cardiac diagnostic investigations and is committed to developing staff and actively developing new roles to enhance service provision. The IQIPS accredited echocardiography service at Imperial incorporates a range of highly specialised echocardiographic investigations, including: paediatric and young person TTE, routine 3D and strain analysis (LV, RV and LA strain), specific cardio-oncology echo lists, LV contrast (LVO) and agitated saline bubble-studies, physiologist/scientist-led valve clinics, TOE in both diagnostic and structural intervention settings (mitral and tricuspid edge-to-edge repair, LAA occlusion, ASD/PFO closure and paravalvular leak closure),


• The role is central to the extension of the community services. The post holder will rotate between the community and the Trust Echocardiography Departments at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and other cardiology departments across the Trust.
• The post holder will need to maintain their specialist knowledge of interventions such as stress echo (Dobutamine and Bike exercise echo) and transoesphageal echocardiograms, which are only performed in the Trust.
• As an advanced practitioner in Echocardiography the post holder will need to be able to independently perform a range ofhighlyspecialised cardiac ultrasound investigations, including adult and child transthoracic,3D/strain,contrast and bubble study echocardiogram,performing physiologist-led valve echo and assessment, Stress echocardiogram and assisting with transoesphageal echocardiogram. Performing accurate and reproducible measurements and quantification, interpret findings and independently issue (sign-off) final clinical-technically diagnostic reports, to a highly competent professional standard.
