We are recruiting 4 trainee CWPs. Post holders will undertake training with University College London (UCL) alongside working in service . You will be taught to deliver evidence based guided self-help interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties. You will also be taught how to deliver interventions in the community, for example, service user participation activities, training and group interventions. The post holder will use their newly developed skills to support children and young people who are referred into the service. Trainees will receive supervision to support their professional development.

You will study at University College London/Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families, with tutors that are renowned for their great work with children and families in the area of emotional and mental health. The Postgraduate Diploma in Child and Young Persons Psychological Wellbeing Practice will begin in January 2025 and the course lasts 1 year. As part of your training you will use the theory that you learn to deliver low intensity mental health interventions to adolescents and the parents of children presenting with mild anxiety, low mood and behaviours that challenge.

In service, you will initially shadow intervention and assessment sessions; shadow and take part in triage discussions and partake in clinical skills development. You will then be expected to complete initial assessments and deliver interventions for anxiety, low mood and behavioural difficulties with the support of your supervisor. Additionally you will attend regular supervision and training sessions; engage in service development activities and deliver workshops and groups with qualified members of staff.

The Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust, Children’s Wellbeing Practitioner Service is looking to recruit 4 trainee Children’s Wellbeing Practitioners (CWPs) to improve children and young people’s mental health in Hertfordshire. The training forms part of the service transformation initiative delivered by NHS England as part of the Children and Young Peoples Mental Health Psychological Trainings (CYP PT). Formerly known as CYP IAPT.

These posts are salaried at NHS Agenda for Change Band 4 and fully funded for a one year post graduate diploma in Child and Young Persons Psychological Wellbeing Practice through University College London. Further intensive supervision and on the job training will be provided by an experienced supervisor.

During training, the post-holders will work under close supervision to gain experience across healthcare and community settings to enable them to gain the level of competence required to deliver high-quality, evidence-based early interventions for children and young people experiencing
mild to moderate mental health problems.

You will be expected to attend university whilst applying the skills you learn in a practical setting in service. You will be expected to initially shadow colleagues, then provide assessments and interventions. You will provide interventions in 1-1 and group settings and you will be expected to co-facilitate workshops.

As part of your role you will attend weekly clinical skills and case management supervision. You will also access group supervision, safeguarding supervision and line management meetings. As part of your training, you will be expected to video record your sessions where consent has been obtained. You will be expected to review and reflect on some of these recordings in supervision sessions as well as at university for your development. When you start working with us you will be expected to complete a HCT Trust induction and mandatory training which may be online or in person.

To be successful in this role you will need:

We currently have 4 vacancies which will based across Hertfordshire. The vacancies will be based in Ware (East), St Albans (West), Watford (South) and Stevenage (North) however travelling across the county will be expected for training and meeting purposes. The post holder has the opportunity to join the discharge home to assess service.

Discharge home to assess, assesses patient within the first 72 hours of discharge from hospital and provide up to 21 days rehabilitation.

The therapist will work alongside physiotherapists and therapy assistants, social workers, community nurses, GPs and care staff. Staff meet regularly for professional development and peer support, the post holder will have the opportunity to supervise and delegate tasks to junior staff and offer placements to occupational therapy students.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our dynamic Speech and Language Therapy team. We are looking for a full-time position for a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant.

This is a Band 3 post. We will give you the opportunity to work through our competency framework relevant to the area which you are working in. The post-holder will be responsible for supporting Speech and Language Therapists with the assessment and management of adults with acquired communication, speech, language or eating and drinking disorders.

You will carry out therapy plans with patients who have recently had a stroke, building excellent rapport with patients and providing them with a high level of care.

You will need to be able to keep accurate clinical records and have good clerical/ administrative skills.

You will support the team with resource building, such as low tech augmentative and alternative communication aids (AAC).

The Speech and Language Therapy Service in East & North Hertfordshire is an integrated acute and community service covering community clinics, inpatient Neurological Rehabilitation and the Acute and Stroke teams based at the Lister Hospital. There are frequent opportunities for gaining skills in other areas and career progression.

You will be joining a highly experienced team of Speech and Language Therapists who work innovatively across acute, community and neurological rehabilitation settings. You will be working within an established and dynamic MDT, with multiple opportunities for joint working.
