The role
As a Vehicle Electrician, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. With your skills and experience, you'll be undertaking the servicing, repair, maintenance and overhaul of vehicles and electrical equipment, including diagnostic and inspection duties. You'll also be carrying out equipment examination to meet production requirements.
Day to day, you'll carry out the inspection, servicing, repair and overhaul of vehicles, assemblies, electrical and general equipment including diagnostic duties, manufacture miscellaneous items and carry out examination tasks to meet production needs. You may also carry out similar duties to occasional civilian vehicles and mechanic equipment.
- Carry out work to the required standard and specification as detailed on the job card in accordance with the customer requirements, current regulations, local instructions, processes and other approved technical publications
- Diagnose, inspect and assess vehicles and associated mechanical / electrical equipment in line with skills & competency
- Ensure all job transactions are accurately recorded and carried out in accordance with current ERP processes and that work completed and time taken to complete the job is submitted daily to the department / section Supervisor
- Completion of vehicle and equipment documentation and test certificates / reports to current standards
- Ensure stores and equipment issued to job are used for their correct purpose and un-used or new faulty material is returned to the section / department Supervisor as soon as it is identified
This position involves manual work. This could include lifting, bending, using tools or standing for extended periods of time.
This is a full time, 37 hours per week based on site at MOD Bovington, near Wareham.
Essential experience of the Vehicle Electrician
- Previous experience within similar role
- Hydraulics experience
- Dealership / Local Garage experience
- A real team player with the ability to adapt and build rapport
Qualifications for the Vehicle Electrician
- Educated to Level-3 in Regulated Qualification Framework (RQF) / National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) as a minimum (Advanced Apprenticeship, Level-3 VRQ/NVQ)
- Holds at a minimum Category-3 F-Gas Qualification
- Holds 18th Edition Electrics Qualification
- Holds valid and appropriate UK driving licence
- Holds valid UK driving licence with Categories C, C+E and H
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance for this role.
