About The Job

This is a crucial position in our research support team to maximise and showcase the research of the University. The post holder will play an integral part in our preparations for the Impact & Engagement component of REF (Research Excellence Framework) 2029 and any future assessment exercises. The post-holder will be actively involved in facilitating and coordinating impact training and activities, serving as the initial point of contact for impact & engagement support within the university. They will become an expert on the requirements of the impact and engagement component of REF2029, answering queries and advising academics and senior leadership.

A key part of the post will be developing, structuring, drafting, and editing impact case studies, working alongside academics to achieve the best overall representation of the research undertaken at the University. They will work within the university to create a research culture in which impact is considered throughout the research life cycle ensuring that this can be evidenced effectively and providing maximum reach of our research.

About You

All applicants will need to have experience and excellent working knowledge of current Impact & Engagement scholarly and funding landscape, and experience of supporting research in a Higher Education. The role will require the ability to research, analyse, summarise and clearly present complex numerical data and information for a range of audiences.

This post will be principally focussed on leading on future REF submissions for the University of Northampton and managing the Research Support Team to develop and deliver support that enables our Researchers to maximise their potential. The postholder will be required to ensure that support is in place for all aspects of research support, including programmes of training and development, management of the Universities REF (Research Excellence Framework) submission and funding support. What will you be doing?

The post provides technical and practical support to the management of doctoral programmes at the university. The postholder will coordinate a number of key tasks associated with support for Research Degree Boards and will also coordinate activities that help to ensure the accuracy of data about research students on university systems. They will provide support to the PGR manager and work alongside other colleagues in the Graduate School.

They will monitor and report on the progress and engagement of PGR students, including international student engagement and immigration compliance processes. They're looking for a Legal Research Associate to support the firm's continued growth across the UK.

You will be investigating tax disputes and working with clients to challenge the dispute with HMRC. The end goal is to have the decision overturned. A background or interest in taxation, accountancy, or legal services (full or part qualified) is desired. This is a good opportunity for a graduate, or someone who has worked within research and development previously.

What will you be doing:

• Review and respond to HMRC (letter writing)
• Organise and attend client calls to discuss each Tax dispute.
• Investigations - carrying out thorough investigation of each dispute, looking for a solution and angle to challenge the dispute with HMRC.
• Extensive research into tax law
• Report writing.
• Investigate trends to continuously improve.
• Communications and debriefs with delivery team and wider team members.
• Keep abreast of compliance and legislation.
• Travel within the UK to see clients, on occasion.
• Ensure all client files are kept up to date in Salesforce.

What are we looking for?

• A background in Tax, Accountancy, Legal and/or R&D would be advantageous.
• Excellent communication skills - written and verbal.
• Must have excellent attention to detail.
• Comfortable working with people at all levels
• Report writing experience desired
• Full UK driver's license essential
• Prior R&D Tax Credit experience and understanding of the tax claim process is advantageous
• Previous experience of HMRC enquiries or legal disputes is advantageous
• Intermediate to advanced IT skills across the Microsoft suite

Science teacher required for a long-term contract in the Northampton area!

Mana Education are delighted to be working with a fantastic secondary school in Northampton who require a full time Science teacher on a contractual basis, which will last until the end of the academic year at least. The role is set to start after half term.

The school are hoping to find a Science teacher who possess qualified teacher status as well as experience planning, marking and delivering Science lessons around the national curriculum. Ideally, the school are hoping to find a teacher with plenty of experience delivering GCSE Science lessons of any kind, whether that be Physics, Biology or Chemistry teaching experience.
