Summary of Job Duties:
The Mathematics Department requires faculty to maintain a strong commitment to teaching and research as well as service in support of UA Little Rock’s mission. The department offers undergraduate degrees in mathematics, a master’s degree in mathematical sciences, a graduate certificate in applied statistics, and advises Ph.D. students. Applicants should provide evidence of potential for excellence in both teaching and research. Teaching duties include both undergraduate and graduate classes in standard load aligned in UA at Little Rock. Evidence of publications, presentations, and/or project funding will be desirable for research. Service will include serving on committees within the department, the college, or the university as well as providing service towards mathematics education. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.
Qualifications:
Required Education and/or Experience:
Preferred Education and/or Experience:
K-12 teaching experience;
Experience in teaching or collaborating with Mathematics Education programs;
A background of research in mathematics education.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach mathematics and mathematics education courses for elementary, middle childhood, and secondary education programs;
Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in mathematics education programs;
Collaborate with department faculty to improve mathematics education programs and ensure compliance with requirements;
Collaborate with the School of Education, Arkansas Education Department to improve mathematics teaching and learning experience for preservice and in-service teachers;
Conduct and publish research in mathematics and/or mathematics education;
Solicit research or project funding in mathematics education;
Perform other duties and services as needed in the department, college, and university.
