Role and Responsibilities

About the role:

The Role
An experienced nurse will be required to be involved in the delivery of Level 3 T-Level qualifications in Health qualification. You will be leading on the clinical practice aspect and delivering science-based units.

The suitable candidate will provide an excellent learning experience to ensure the individual learner gains the appropriate skills in readiness for further study, employment or an apprenticeship
Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate will hold a Nursing degree and have a minimum of 5 years industrial experience; it is desirable to hold a full teaching qualification or be working towards the teaching qualification, however for anyone new to teaching we can provide the training required. To be successful in this role, you’ll need to have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be able to effectively motivate and inspire others. You’ll also have exceptional organisational skills combined with good IT knowledge and sound administration skills.

- You will have recent experience of dealing with student nurses either in a Higher Education Institution or in clinical practice.
- Have a good understanding of A/Level science.

The Community Rehabilitation Service provides a flexible range of mental health interventions to help clients complex mental health needs to manage their mental health more effectively and remain in their own homes. NELFT is an experienced provider of mental health services for children and young people, already providing these services in Essex, Medway and four London boroughs. The service is also for young people with special educational needs (SEN) up to the age of 25. The CAMHS Tier II and Tier III services no longer exist, replaced with an integrated CYPMHS. Structure of Children & Young Peoples Mental Health Services (CYPMHS) There is one Childrens Single Point of Access (SPA), a Neurodevelopmental & Learning Disabilities Service, eight Locality Teams, a dedicated crisis team and inpatient service based in Staplehurst These are located across Medway, Dartford, Maidstone, Tunbridge Wells, South Kent (Folkestone & Dover), Thanet, Swale, and Ashford. This transformation of children and young peoples mental health services has a clinical focus, integrated with local authorities to deliver a long term collaborative approach to planning and delivering services. CYPMHS focuses on emotional wellbeing as well as mental health and includes access to self-help tools and services based in schools and the community. The CAMHS Tier II and Tier III service no longer exist, replaced with an integrated CYPMHS. Training and support is available to other professionals and agencies. We are creating a modern service that fits with childrens lives in a way that best suits them. Each locality team have care pathways. Each care pathway is clinically led, with care pathway leads operationally managing all CYPMHS practitioners working in that care pathway. To ensure the delivery of high-quality specialist therapeutic support through Play Therapy and Child-Parent Relationship Therapy, to children and their families under the care of ellenor including bereaved children, children with life-limiting conditions and oncology needs and children of adult patients.

We are looking for a Locum Practice Nurse (Band 5) to cover an assignment with the Ministry of Defence (MoD), at Chatham Medical Centre, in Chatham, Kent.

This is a locum role (37.5 hours per week) and the successful candidate will deliver an exceptional standard of care to the MoD service personnel.

Job Description – Service Requirements
• To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, under the Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) organization, delivering Primary Health Care (PHC) services and elements of Occupational Health and Health Promotion to the Defence Medical Services (DMS) entitled Population at Risk (PAR).
• To be responsible to the Senior Medical Officer / Lead Clinician / Senior Nurse and provide routine clinics as directed to meet the needs of the organisation and the PAR.
• To be involved in the development and implementation of local programmes of care/ service delivery within their scope of practice; conducting electronic searches and performing audit to promote quality improvement.
• To assist in the supervision of untrained staff within the practice, under the guidance of the Senior Nurse / Lead Clinician and within individual scope of practice.
• To undertake and remain in date for all mandatory training as set out in the most current DPHC Guidance Note entitled Mandatory Training for Locums, Agency Staff and single Service personnel working within DPHC.
• To maintain patient safety and support healthcare governance activity.
• To undertake training and demonstrate competence to issue medications via Patient Group Directives (PGDs) and Patient Specific Directions (PSDs), in accordance with Joint Service Policy and as determined appropriate by the Senior Nurse / Lead Clinician.


Essential Requirements / Qualifications / Experience
• Must be Registered Nurse (Adult) Level 1 with Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and hold a valid, in date Personal Identification Number (PIN) and not be subject to any restrictions of practice.
• Must hold current, valid personal medical indemnity insurance.
• Must have a minimum of one year’s post registration experience working as a Band 5 or higher grade in a Primary Healthcare (PHC) setting (within the last three years).
• Must be in date for Basic Life Support (BLS), Anaphylaxis, Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) and be able to provide certification.
• Must have completed Immunisation and Vaccination Foundation Training in accordance with national immunisation and vaccination standard training requirements (Public Health England) and either:
- be able to provide certification; or
- be able to provide proof of clinical competency of the same from a previous employer or Line Manager, who is a current and practicing GMC or NMC Registrant, for Immunisation and Vaccinations (dated within the last 12 months).
• Must be in date for Immunisation and Vaccination annual update e-learning training (to include young children if engaged within a family practice) and be able to provide certification.
• Must be in date for venepuncture and able to provide certificates of training/qualification/update, as undertaken within the last three years, and/or be able to provide proof of clinical competency of the same from a previous employer or Line Manager, who is a current and practicing GMC or NMC Registrant, for venepuncture.

• Must be in date and able to provide certification for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Safeguarding Adults up to and including Level 3 training.
