These posts are part of an innovative and ongoing teaching initiative which seeks to professionalise clinical teaching, at the same time as allowing individuals to develop their own teaching skills and expertise in medical education. Suited to individuals with a keen interest in undergraduate teaching who wish to pursue a career in a teaching hospital.


The posts could be offered as a full time Clinical Teaching Fellow or a 50/50 post with varied roles and responsibilities in the established team structure. Which form an important arm of the clinical teaching staff of Warwick Medical School’s principal teaching hospital: the University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) NHS Trust.

The posts are aimed at Postgraduate Doctors of all training grades from post FY2 up to senior level Doctors in Training who wish to strengthen their educational credentials and gain additional teaching experience. Educational Responsibilities.

Appointees will be expected to contribute in the following areas:
• Original work on research projects of relevance to medical education. Fellows will have individual projects in their own areas. It is expected that this work should lead to presentations at appropriate professional meetings and publication in relevant journals.
• Responsible for delivering curriculum MB ChB across the 4 year Programme including the involvement in teaching, assessments pastoral care and quality assurance.
• Post holders are responsible for supporting the well-established Acute Block. This includes leading clinical simulation sessions and debrief, small group teaching and mentoring.
• Supporting the teaching within Phase 3 Specialty Clinical Placements (Musculoskeletal, Child Health, Women’s Health, Care of Surgical Patient and Care of Medical Patient) within individual fellow’s specialty areas.
• Supporting clinical simulation in delivering acute block simulation and opportunities in Postgraduate simulation training. There are additional simulation activities and projects available to a fellow with a particular interest in simulation, playing a key role in the design, development, delivery, and evaluation of simulation-based education.
• Delivering regular bedside teaching sessions.
• Assorted other educational activities which may vary according to the needs of the service. These will include organisation and participation in clinical exams, a revision course before finals, marking elective and other reports.

Clinical Responsibilities

Full time Teaching Fellow

Fellows are encouraged to spend one session per week working in their clinical specialty by arrangement. This is a good opportunity to allow participation in specialist clinics or training areas within this University Teaching Hospital. Clinical time can be condensed to allow appropriate clinical experience, for example a full day for a theatre list.



50/50 Teaching Fellow

Fellows will spend 50% of their time working within their chosen specialty. Clinical time will be within the normal working day, with no commitment to on-call working (this is reflected in the salary). Organising suitable clinical positions forms part of the recruitment process. Opportunity for clinical on-call working may be negotiated locally after appointment when shifts are deemed to have no impact on the daytime working pattern.

Our aim is to work collaboratively as an MDT to support those people to avoid unnecessary admission to hospital remaining at home in the community with an improved quality of life. We also support individuals through discharge transition out of hospital. Our team works in partnership with the individual, their families and carers to gain a greater understanding of their needs and works closely with the local community learning disability teams and social care to ensure a cohesive approach and continuity of care.

Along with existing psychological services colleagues, you will provide input to IST in the form of specialist assessments, psychological interventions, team formulation, consultation, training and supervision of other qualified staff.

Hawkesbury Lodgeis a 20 bedded mixed sex rehabilitation unit based within the Longford area of Coventry.

It provides inpatient recovery-based rehabilitation for adults who have been experiencing difficulty with maintaining their mental well being and living in the community. The residents may be admitted from the community or an acute inpatient setting, and through their journey with us are looking to recover the skills, roles, routines and right support to be able to live well.

The role of the Occupational Therapist is integral to the multidisciplinary recovery approach with the residents on their rehabilitation journey. The post offers genuine opportunity to influence and shape how things are done here.

To develop, provide and evaluate effective occupational therapy with the residents, and contribute to the maintenance and development of the therapeutic environment within the busy unit.

To work with the residents to identify, achieve and maintain interest in what they want and need to do, and help them continue to grow and develop their potential to the point that they can sustain it in a longer term environment.

The post is based within a multidisciplinary team of recovery support workers, psychologists, nurses, psychiatrists and the community Enablement Team. Coventry and Warwickshire Pathology Services (CWPS) invites applications for a replacement consultant cellular pathologist to join our forward-thinking and friendly teambased at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust (UHCW).

CWPS are a large pathology network in the Midlands, providing pathology services for UHCW, George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust and South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust.

We are seeking a pathologist with sub-specialist interests in any of the following areas: haematolymphoid, thoracic, gastrointestinal pathology, urology, dermatopathology, or gynaecological pathology.

Participation in the autopsy service is welcomed but not essential.

Participation in research and teaching (at undergraduate and post graduate level) is encouraged and supported by protected sessions. University of Warwick’s Clinical Sciences Research Institute located on the UHCW site provides additional laboratory research facilities.

The department has full UKAS accreditation, is fully sub-specialised and benefits from extensive BMS led cut-up. CWPS is a global leader in digital pathology having adopted this technology and led its implementation into diagnostic practice. This innovative development offers unrivalled flexibility of workflow, including home working for up to 3 days a week, benefiting both pathologists and clinical services.





The appointee will provide a diagnostic consultation and advisory service to clinical colleagues in the Network and primary care. Histology reporting will be expected to be done digitally once the appointee has been trained and fully validated. Voice recognition training will also be provided as this is the preferred method of report entry.



The appointee will develop close collaborative links with clinicians working in their area of specialist expertise and work to develop services provided to patients in these areas to the highest standards including the adoption of best practice guidance, the development of diagnostic and treatment protocols and all other relevant guidelines.



The appointee will be encouraged to support reporting of any systemic cytology associated with their sub-specialty area(s) of interest. The post does not have a requirement for cervical screening cytology reporting.

The appointee will be required to interact with the clinicians and allied health professionals to provide pathological support and leadership required for the delivery of excellent services.

The appointee, if they so choose, may be involved in the post mortem service for the Coventry and Warwickshire Coroner, for which appropriate time will be allocated in their job plan.

The appointee will be encouraged to take part in research and, where possible, to support the development of digital pathology and the research objectives of UHCW and UoW Medical School.

The Advanced Practitioner role requires an individual with commitment, passion and excellent communication skills. You will be supporting the breast imaging department to carry a range of interventions using stereotactic equipment and supporting specialist imaging. Film reading and completing a range of audits and offering project support will also be a key component. There is also a focus on demonstrating strong leadership skills and being a role model, supporting the development of colleagues and staff in a variety of different training roles.

The post holder will be expected to have specialist knowledge in Mammography and will work at an Advanced Practice level. Work will include undertaking symptomatic and screening mammography, performing stereotactic biopsies, vacuum excisions and wire localisations and NHS Breast Screening programme image interpretation.

In addition, the post holder will be required to participate in the clinical service delivery undertaking mammography on the static and mobile units and participate in assessment clinics and the symptomatic service.

(15) Be conversant with the principles, configuration and use of the Trust’s standard computer operating systems, such as Microsoft Windows and UNIX technologies.



(16) Participate in developing documentation for ICT policies, procedures and system configurations, documenting all project work to departmental standards.



(17) Ensure ICT equipment conforms to the appropriate safety standards.



(18) To be able to work independently, guided by standard operating procedures with minimum supervision and be proficient in word processing, spreadsheets and databases.



(19) Participate in the training of fellow members of staff and students and new starters within the Service Desk in the use of ICT equipment and application software, as required.



(20) Participate in appropriate training and development activities.



(21) Participate in yearly appraisals in order to set and achieve objectives and personal development plans.



(22) Participate in giving presentations of systems to users and other interested parties as required.



(23) Keep abreast of current developments within the IT industry.



(24) Deal with all related administration duties as deemed appropriate to the nature and grade of the post, ensuring that all documentation is accurate.



(25) Ensure that all Trust wide standards are maintained and monitored to improve the quality of total care to all who come into contact with services provided by UHCW NHS Trust.



(26) Undertake other tasks commensurate with this grade and nature of the post as allocated by the Supervisor or Manager.
