The Senior Researcher, Advanced Materials Technologies:

• Leads strategic planning for new technical capability in emerging fields of materials research and technology and provides recommendations on strategic investments and technology forecasting to Agency and Center leadership in Aeronautics and Space Exploration.
• Conducts systematic, intensive research to further knowledge in advanced/high-performance materials that have general applicability for use by others.
• Represents Langley on Agency technical teams/committees/panels responsible for problem solving.

• As deputy to the director/commander, plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the Force Support Squadron (FSS).

As a Supervisory Health Scientist Administrator, GS-0601-15, you will use your knowledge and experience to optimize business results and customer experience by:

• You will serve as the technical lead in identifying and developing new research directions in remote sensing of importance to the Navy, DoD and other government and international partners.

• You will conduct and lead innovative research advancing remote sensing strategies and techniques to leverage existing government and commercial systems critical to future naval power.

• Represents the Force Support Squadron with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with MAJCOMs, other base organizations, senior leadership, squadron commanders, and representatives from other military services, Department of Defense (DoD) agencies, and related civilian organizations regarding services provided. Meets with key customers and coordinating officials to assess customer satisfaction, explain organization policy and procedures, and resolves significant problems that arise. Ensures subordinates provide customer guidance and training.
• Establishes, defines, and implements requirements for manpower programs to ensure operations are in line with regulatory and fiscal requirements, support goals, and mission requirements.

• Onboard, validate, and maintain the set of Ionosphere-Thermosphere-Mesosphere (ITM) models at the Community Coordinated Modeling Center (CCMC) and provide expert science support for expert-guided simulation services to the research community.

• Implement data-assimilation methodologies into ITM models at the Community Coordinated Modeling Center (CCMC).
• Support inter-Divisional efforts to develop a comprehensive coupled modeling system from the ground to the upper ionosphere.
