Religious Worker – Temporary – 2 years (maximum)

Job description
The Religious Worker is a spiritual resource for Hindu community residing in Reading and surrounding areas. The candidate shall work in accordance with the directives laid down by the Executive Committee (EC) and should behave in a “lead by example” manner.

Specific duties include:
• Open / close the Temple at the times specified by the EC, and remain present in the prayer hall at all times during the Temple’s normal / extended opening hours
• Clean the stage, Murtis including Shivling, puja samagri, Prasad / fruit bowls and prayer hall on a daily basis and prepare and maintain them in a presentable form for the congregation
• Take the Prasad from the devotees and offer it to the deities and give the Prasad to the devotees as they leave the prayer hall after the their prayer and aarti
• Receive money (donation) from the donors and issue the receipt immediately and hand over the collected donations to the treasury team at the first opportunity
• From time to time be ready to perform / or undertake all such reasonable duties and responsibilities which have been assigned by the EC that are in the benefits / interests of the charity – Reading Hindu Centre

Desirable requirement:

• Must be well versed with Sanskrit, the sacred language of chanting Mantras

Detailed job description and main responsibilities Understands the importance of the woman as the centre of her care. Demonstrates that he/ she consult and involves women in decisions about their care and wellbeing. Demonstrates understanding of fundamental legal practices related to consent and the prevention of abuse. Is able to implement holistic; culturally sensitive; respectful; non-judgemental care from a pre-determined care plan for women with a wide range of care needs. Undertakes other care practices as directed by the Midwife/Nurse but is able to carry out routine care duties at own discretion. Practices in accordance with the Trusts protocols and guidelines. Demonstrates understanding of the boundaries of the Maternity Support Worker role. Confident and competent in all intrapartum related band 3 competencies. Works flexibly across the intrapartum areas to provide excellence in labour care during the latent phase of labour, and support the woman, family and midwife during active labour if appropriate/required. For example, precipitate delivery, woman labouring alone. Is able to assist the midwife in emergencies such as neonatal resuscitation, precipitate birth/haemorrhage. Recognises and respond to emergencies appropriately such as adult and neonatal basic life support. Is able to initiate fundamental care during an emergency to ensure safety. Our Client based in Berkshire is currently recruiting for a Customer Safety, Fire Inspector to join their team on an initial fixed term contract until April 2025.

This is a Full time role for at least 4 months with possibility of extension based in Bracknell offering £33,973 per year.

The purpose of the role is to oversee the inspection of communal areas within all buildings, including Fire Door Inspections & testing of fire assets to support compliance with the key requirements of Regulatory Reform Fire Safety Order making sure high levels of customer safety.

Responsibilities:

• Support the Fire, Building Safety & Compliance teams and wider business, with ongoing monitoring and assessment in respect of Fire and Building Safety. Providing on site remedial changes and advice ensuring that suitable controls, processes, and procedures are in place.
• In accordance with the Regulatory Reform Fire Safety Order, ensure high levels of customer safety are achieved through thorough and detailed inspections of communal areas within all buildings, ensuring fire assets are tested and fire safety notice boards & Secure Premises Information boxes are audited/kept up to date.
• Undertake visual monthly checks and/or testing of key firefighting equipment such as fire-fighting lifts, fire-evacuation lifts, inlets and outlets for dry and wet rising mains, smoke control systems, suppression systems, fire detection and fire alarm systems including any linked to ancillary systems such as smoke control systems; evacuation alert systems, automatic door release mechanisms; plus check that all wayfinding signage, fire escape signage, fire action notices and fire door signage are present and correct
• Carry out a Quarterly communal fire door inspections and annual customer flat front door inspections recording defects via Fire Door Inspection app. Carry out on site minor adjustments to minimise any fire risks

Requirements:

• Good knowledge of relevant codes of practice and regulations associated with Fire Safety, Fire Doors and Fire safety equipment and signage.
• Experience working in a customer service role.
• Knowledge and experience of Microsoft applications and similar Housing Management system such as Open Housing.

Our Maintenance Operatives are responsible for ensuring that our properties are maintained to the correct level, and any works that need to be carried our are done in line with specific timescales. Duties include:

- Ensure a high standard of workmanship when carrying out maintenance repairs to the Home.
- Inform the Maintenance Coordinator of any faults that may incur significant expenditure or require a specialist contractor.
- To liaise daily with Maintenance Administrator to ensure that daily whereabouts are adhered to and to inform of any problems relating to prepared diary.
- To ensure that all necessary paperwork is completed correctly and legibly and issued to the Maintenance Administrator in accordance with Voyage policy.
- To be contactable by phone daily between 8:00am and 6:00pm to discuss any issues.
- Hours of work are 37.5 per week. Work starts at 8:00am by travelling to Voyage property. Work ends at 4:00pm when leaving Voyage property and travelling home.
- It may be a requirement to occasionally stay overnight (in Hotel), at the discretion of the Maintenance Coordinator, to facilitate works at Homes further away than an acceptable travelable distance.
- Communicate all potential additional maintenance work with Service Manager to establish the level/schedule of work required.
- Maintain positive working relationships with service users, staff and visitors by being considerate, courteous and presenting a clean and tidy appearance.
- Use materials in order of date of purchase to minimise wastage and to ensure that when purchasing materials, value for money is obtained.
- Keep any designated work/storage areas clean and tidy, with regard to relevant health and safety requirements, including ensuring that COSHH materials stored correctly in accordance with COSHH procedures
