• The Advanced Medical Support Assistant (AMSA) position serves as a member of the Community Care Consult team. The AMSA works collaboratively with other members of expanded health care teams (i.e. PACT, specialty care) including Community providers, pharmacists, social workers, dieticians, behavioral health staff, etc. to provide a robust interdisciplinary approach to care. Important interfaces and collaborations also occur with larger health care system providers including VA and Community specialists, hospitals, diagnostic and treating facilities, and community based programs.
• The AMSA works collaboratively in an interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery model (i.e. PACT, Specialty Clinics, C&P, Community Care) and performs receptionist duties, customer service and other duties assigned for the proper and timely treatment of patients and maintains appointment schedules for all Community Care.
• Communicates with Community Care providers to ensure they accept VA patients and payments, prepare any required pre-appointment documents, schedules the appropriate level of care and Community Care Advanced Medical Support Assistant Functional Statement documents the schedule in the appropriate consult. Obtains medical documentation from Community providers, scans to appropriate consult within CPRS and view alerts the VA providers for continuity of care. • Coordinates, directs and ensures quality management of the patient care administrative activities. These positions are located at the Orlando VA Medical center, 13800 Veterans Way, Orlando, FL 32827.The Acute Care Nursing Assistant (NA) responsibilities include all activities of daily living and general patient care duties to help the healthcare team restore the Veteran to the highest level of independence or remain comfortable toward the end of life. The NA will provide support for diagnostic procedures, nursing treatments, patient charting, and reinforcement of patient education. The performance of these tasks involves direct working relationships with Veterans and participation as a member of the nursing care team in direct service to Veterans.

Nursing Assistant (NA) Acute care is a member of the nursing care team and assist licensed nursing staff in the care of patients/residents receiving outpatient care, home, or community living care, or other patients/residents who are in acute, sub-acute or chronic states of illness. The distinguishing factor is that patient/resident assignments typically involve more complex nursing needs which can vary within a range of predictable to unpredictable requirements. NAs at this level also assume more of a peer education/mentorship role by assisting with the coordination of new NA orientation and overseeing/assessing their practical experience while in a clinical setting. They will have the ability to recognize and react to emergent patient/resident care situations and intervene while waiting for assistance. Completed work may require routine or detailed higher-level review depending on the complexity of the duties.

The duties for the Acute Care Nursing Assistant include but not limited to:

• Plans, organizes, and prioritizes assigned workload.
