Serco have an exciting opportunity within our Maritime division for a PMO Project Support to join our team based at HMNB Portsmouth on a hybrid basis.
This position plays a crucial role in providing governance, oversight, and support for the successful delivery of our Maritime DMS-NG programme. Our PMO Project Support will maintain structure and discipline within the programme, ensuring that project plans are cohesive, and that risk, issue, and dependency management processes are effectively implemented. It supports the programme's success by driving consistent reporting, governance, and the delivery of key milestones. This position ensures that all programme activities adhere to established standards, processes, and best practices, facilitating the alignment of workstreams, tracking progress, and driving continuous improvement.
Main Accountabilities:
Governance and Reporting:
- Establish and maintain governance frameworks, ensuring that all programme activities comply with established standards and processes.
- Produce regular reports and dashboards that provide clear visibility of project status, risks, issues, and performance metrics.
- Schedule and Facilitate programme reviews and status meetings, capturing key decisions, actions, and follow-up requirements.
Risk, Issue, and Dependency Management:
- Maintain and manage the programme's RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) logs, ensuring proactive tracking and mitigation.
- Work closely with project teams to identify potential risks and issues, implementing strategies to address them effectively.
Planning and Coordination:
- Support the development of integrated project plans and/or handover plans, ensuring alignment across multiple workstreams.
- Coordinate with Project Managers to track milestones, monitor progress, and manage interdependencies between workstreams.
- Facilitate the alignment of resources, ensuring that project activities are well-coordinated and on schedule.
Process Improvement and Standardisation:
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to streamline programme management activities.
- Identify areas for process improvement, introducing best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within the PMO.
Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:
- Act as a central point of contact for programme-related queries, ensuring consistent and transparent communication with stakeholders.
- Support stakeholder engagement efforts, facilitating workshops, meetings, and presentations to communicate programme progress.
Training and Capability Building:
- Provide guidance and support to junior PMO members, ensuring their development and growth within the programme.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing across the PMO team.
What you’ll need to do the role:
- Proven relevant Project PMO experience. Previous experience in a maritime environment would be an advantage.
- A Strong understanding of project and programme management methodologies and frameworks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools including Microsoft Project and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent organisational and analytical skills with a detail-oriented approach.
- Experience with tools like Power BI for data visualisation and reporting and knowledge of risk management techniques and process improvement methodologies is desirable.
