You have

• Building surveying experience including property condition and dilapidation surveys and specifying remedial works.

For this role you will work Monday - Friday 0530 until finish which should be around 8-10 hour shifts

Key Responsibilities:

To execute Planned Preventative Maintenance as directed by the Senior Management Team to maximise efficiency and minimise downtime.
To ensure machine utilisation and availability meets production requirements
Monitor and measure performance and downtime

To provide prompt engineering support for all factory activities.
Monitor and challenge response times
Feedback on service provided with stakeholders

To actively promote a safety culture and ensure engineering best practices are achieved within Health and Safety legislation.

You’re a caring, can-do person with experience working in building maintenance. Ideally, some of that has been gained in a care home setting. You’ve got a good basic education with GCSEs (or the equivalent) including English and Maths. As well as being very practical, you like dealing with people. You’re happy building good relationships with residents, colleagues and contractors. You’re a multi-tasker who can work well under pressure and use your initiative to solve problems. Above all, you’re a team player who takes pride in your work and is committed to maintaining a safe, comfortable environment for our residents.


Your role

The safety of our care home residents and staff is really important. So your role will be to make sure the premises and grounds are maintained to a high standard. You’ll perform regular checks, carry out repairs and, when needed, contact engineers or service agents. You’ll be confident doing fire, basic electrical and appliance checks. Faults must be reported and actioned promptly. We’ll also expect you to keep the grounds looking tidy and carry out general redecoration work. As our Maintenance Person, you’ll be a valuable member of our friendly, close-knit team, promoting the well-being of our residents and the successful running of our care home.

As a Maintenance Assistant you will be:

• Assisting with ensuring that the service, buildings, facilities and equipment requirements are maintained and fit for purpose.
• Utilising good DIY skills to ensure safety of service users is maintained.

Where you will be working:

Location: Sturt's Ln, Walton on the Hill, Tadworth KT20 7RQ. You will be working at Sturt House, a recovery focused, rehabilitation unit providing specialist mental health treatment for males aged 18 and over. Working as part of a team, you will provide individualised care and treatment utilising least restrictive practice principles and safe practice to support Service Users in their recovery. Sturt House is committed to delivering a high standard of care, with the Service User encouraged and supported to be actively involved in the development and review of their treatment and pathway in accordance with their own abilities.

Diagnose and repair faults on complex mechanical services, engineering plant and equipment, deal with new situations as they arise and pass on knowledge to others. Fully understand all relevant general Health & Safety issues appertaining to the relevant trade discipline. Provide emergency recall and undertake on-call duties as part of the on-call team to ensure that emergency repairs occurring out of normal hours are attended to. Work overtime to carry out emergency repairs as required by management.To liaise and work with other trades/disciplines including external agencies (contractors). The job: May involve shift working and planned overtime. Will involve on-call responsibilities - you would need to be on site within 1 hour of call out All staff required to undertake on-call commitments must be able to make their own way to and from the required locations.

Working as part of a team in the estates department looking after the Mechanical/Plumbing services. You may be asked from time to time to cover duties on our other sites, such as St Albans City Hospital, Hemel Hempstead Hospital and clinics. You will be required to cover out of hour duties as part of the on-call rota reporting to the on-call manager. At times you may be required to cover supervisory duties.
