We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, organised and friendly person to join and manage our committed and hardworking Finance Team. The Finance Team is based at Chulmleigh Community College and are responsible for the processing of all financial data for our three primary schools in addition to the College.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Academy Business Manager offering the very best support to our staff, pupils and parents. Full training and a comprehensive handover will be provided to ensure a smooth transition for this key role.

Main responsibilities include:

• To oversee and support the functions of the Finance Team.
• To contribute to a positive ethos in the College in which everyone, staff, pupils, parents and directors feel valued.
• To ensure an effective and efficient finance operation.
• To supply information and reports, as required, to our Senior Leadership Team, Directors, Auditors and statutory bodies such as LGPS.
• To ensure the smooth day to day operation of tasks within specific areas of the Trust and maintaining and devising efficient and effective financial and administrative processes and procedures.
• To ensure Health and Safety requirements are met.
• To assist with personnel administration procedures.
• To provide advice and guidance within established frameworks.
• Establish constructive relationships and communicate with other professionals.
• Participate in training opportunities and professional development as required

What you’ll be doing:

Candidates will need to have worked in a high volume accounts payable department have a positive and professional attitude to work. This is a temporary to permanent positions.

Skills

• Experience of working in a busy, high volume, Accounts Payable department
• They must be a resilient, multitasking professional, with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude, able to manage their time efficiently in order to complete all necessary tasks

Tasks

• Processing of invoices and credit notes via capture software
• The matching of invoice and credit notes in readiness for payment on company software
• Processing of weekly supplier payments
• Dealing with external and internal queries via email and telephone

Investigating and resolving outstanding creditor items

• The issuing of petty cash to internal staff, ensuring the correct controls are followed along with the month end journal procedure
• Company Credit card reconciliation, along with the month end journal procedure
• The scanning and re-allocation of post received in the department
• Preparing monthly statement reconciliations
• Ensuring all account payable activities comply with relevant financial policies and procedures.
• Supplier information maintenance on company software
• Undertake other duties as directed and commensurate with the grading of the role.

• Assist with the delivery of corporate projects and government funded schemes, collaborate with service areas across the authority as required to collate data and monitor actions, ensuring that accurate demand and outcome statistics are recorded and reported, and liaise with the accountancy team to administrate the allocation of budgets and funding

You will need:

• NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration or equivalent.
• Extensive experience of working in Business Administration and managing process
• Considerable experience of financial administration
• Experience of using a variety of bespoke IT systems.

This role will put you at the heart of the Finance and Commercial functions within Customers Finance, supporting the transition to the new Retail business billing platform and being the driving force behind key planning activities and related areas of regulatory reporting.

Responsibilities

• You will have responsibility for ensuring a smooth financial close process that meets the requirements of our internal management reporting as well as the needs of a corporate stakeholders. This will include ensuring transactions are consistent with Group accounting policy (IFRS) and the outputs align with the needs of the business teams.
• Month End includes some consolidation activities to report up to Group - posting of journals, ensuring that balance sheet movements are consistent with Income statements or Cash flow movements and talking through the monthly financial results with the Group Reporting team.
• Acting as a point of contact for updates to the chart of accounts, cost centre structures and maintaining various Hierarchy mappings within the Anaplan reporting tool.
• Consolidating the financial plans for Customers business. This includes production of Medium-Term Plan (MTP), and quarterly reforecasts reported to Corporate, and the monthly internal forecast updates for the Business Managers. You will use our reporting system Anaplan to consolidate the forecasts and budgets covering Income statements, Cashflow and Balance sheets ensuring quality and consistency.

• Producing the annual Ofgem Segmental reports showing EBIT by Domestic and Non-domestic channels.
• You may be asked to assist in updating the annual goodwill impairment model for the valuation of the Customers Business Unit. This involves inputting budget and other long-term volume and commodity prices.
• Audit, providing financial information to the auditors and helping to chase other teams.
• Assisting the finance teams in technical accounting queries, sharing changes in group policy and in accounting standards, ensuring consistency across the business (we have a technical team in group to assist)

Requirements

The role holder needs good business awareness to provide insight, sense checking and interpretation of the data. They need to predict stakeholder questions, areas of interest and requirements, ensuring that the commentaries are supported by analysis (from the business teams) to underpin what is presented, and that the story and messages are consistent throughout. You'll have the ability to learn and apply industry knowledge.

• Accounting qualification - Fully qualified (ACA/CIMA/ACCA)
