● Implementing and enforcing safe working practices and methods of work for the engineering team
● Ensuring that the Predictive and Preventative Maintenance programmes are kept up to date and performed at the recommended frequencies.
● Leading and directing workforce in problem identification, problem solving and implementing continuous improvement measures.
● Communicate with the team on an ongoing basis and make decisions related to productivity, cost reductions and waste elimination.
● Enforcing Imerys Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality standards and procedures and ensuring they are adhered to by the engineering personnel and contractors.
● Have practical experience of writing and working with risk assessment / RAMS

Responsible for communication with the production team i.e. tasks of the day, major equipment, overall production such as;

● Shutdown, equipment returning to operation
● Responsible to maintain minimum / maximum inventory / stock levels to ensure high plant availability whilst identifying items no longer required
● Ensuring engineering equipment is appropriate for the task and is operated in a safe and efficient manner
● Identify and report incidents of unsatisfactory plant performance
● Inspect materials, products and/or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.

Communication Respond to complaints and concerns from the public regarding services or equipment maintenance. Provide a response which is empathetic in relation to the issues involved. Participate in and communicate with Trust committees including the provision of reports in relation to the Engineering department services. Keep accurate and complete records of all activities and ensure written communication is consistent with legislation, policies, and procedures. Liaise with the Trust Medical Device Management Group in relation to the Engineering responsibilities for Medical Devices. Facilitate and cascade information to the team e.g. Team Brief, meetings etc. providing a regular briefing in relation to performance, service developments and change management. Ensure Estates colleagues and the wider Trust are kept aware of changes to both Statutory and NHS applicable guidance via verbal communications, email updates or formal reports. Communicate with people in a form and manner consistent with their level of understanding, culture, background and preferred ways of communicating. Communicate as and when required with the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). Liaise with Safety Inspectors, Risk Managers and developing and maintaining positive working relationships with staff side H&S reps. Ensure close working relationships with all other leads within the Division and clinical locations to achieve a Patient focused service delivery model. Reviewing/audit Identify and evaluate areas for potential service improvement. Develop and prepare various management reports on Engineering services, risk, performance as and when required. Lead audits as required. Participate in review of standards and performance. Regularly review the use of highly complex engineering systems to ensure that they continue to meet demand criteria and users expectation of the service, particularly where such services have a direct impact on clinical care or safety. Investigate and prepare reports on complaints received from patients, visitors, staff and public regarding services provided by the Engineering Department. Ensure compliance with HSE guidance and other Approved Codes of Practice. Monitor, audit and document H&S compliance. Participate in Trust H&S meetings and report on Engineering compliance levels. Assist the Assistant Director of Estates in the development and regular review of the Estates Strategy considering Trust service strategies and Trust wide service development plans. Development Ensure own continual professional development is appropriately managed as per registration requirements and demands of the role. To hold monthly one to one meetings with direct reports, focusing on the achievement of actions, priorities, providing support and positive challenge. Delegate work to team members as appropriate in line with their individual skills, development needs and aspirations. Address issues and concerns that may inhibit staff from achieving both their personal and organisational goals. Enable and encourage others to offer suggestions, ideas, and views for improving services. Ensure all team members have a meaningful annual appraisal and annual personal development plan to ensure delivery of personal, directorate and Trust objectives. Ensure that Engineering staff are appropriately trained both for their general responsibilities and to maintain dedicated or specialist devices. Contribute to the development of others enabling them to make realistic self-assessments and apply their knowledge and skills in practice. Actively promote the workplace as a learning environment encouraging everyone to learn from each other and from external good practice. Management Overall Responsibility for Managing the Engineering Department to ensure that all Engineering building services, and equipment are complaint with statutory legislation and guidance. Responsible for producing and implementing departmental procedures as appropriate, contribute to Trust Policies. Provide a source of expertise, information, and training for equipment users at all levels. Manage the recruitment, appointment, induction, training, and retention of staff, including chairing interview panels. Ensure that Workforce policies and management standards are adhered to. Deliver difficult and challenging conversations and management meetings, as required, to ensure management processes and standards are adhered to. Manage and support the Trust Energy Manager (band 7) Ensure budgets remain on target and engineering services are managed and maintained to maximise efficiency and help reduce energy usage and carbon emissions. Prepare reports, efficiency schemes and business cases to help drive the Sustainability agenda from an estates perspective. Ensure staff are appropriately trained and that training remains in date. Accountability for the budget and financial performance of both Engineering and Energy revenue budgets and any delegated Capital Schemes. Develop Trust policies relating to the Management of key services and equipment. Deputise for the Assistant Director of Estates when required.

Duties to include but not limited to: Management of the operational engineering department that provides essential Electrical/mechanical services, maintenance and technical support to a range of highly complex buildings, services and equipment that is the Trusts estate. Ensuring that all work undertaken is compliant with relevant legislation and guidance including NHS HTMs, HBNs, British Standards, Building Regulations, etc. Manage specialist engineering systems including acting as Authorised Person, for various specialist services as required by Department of Health Guidance, i.e. HTMs Med Gas/Electrical LV/Water(Legionella)/Ventilation. Arranging service interruptions, in connection with clinical and non-clinical staff within the Trust, ensuring all contingencies have been identified and covered, supported by Risk Assessments, Method Statements appropriate Permit to Work Systems and current Health & Safety Legislation. Prepare reports as required for the Trust Board, senior managers. Manage the provision of contingency plans to meet emergency situations for engineering services, ensuring emergency plans as implemented are appropriate. Participate within estates on call system. To attend site as required working or providing supervision outside of normal working hours. Manage the design of new work, upgrades and modifications, utilising the Trusts Tender or Competitive Quotation procedures. This includes arranging pre-contract meetings and applying budgetary control and producing tender documentation. Responsible for project management of schemes generated from within the Maintenance Department and at the request of the Director of Facilities and Services. Responsible for raising orders, ensuring that resources and materials are readily available for effective and efficient management of engineering services. Review available resources and incorporate changes made in line with value for money and audit recommendations. Budget holder for the department. Covers both pay and non-pay budgets for all operational engineering services. Ensuring compliance with Trust Standing Orders and Standing Financial Instructions. Obtain quotations/tenders involving selection of suppliers to enable production of purchase requisitions. Verify invoices, interim payments and final accounts for payment. Develop, maintain and review all planned preventative maintenance programmes on plant and equipment. Assist in the implementation and maintenance of an effective asset register/equipment database. Participate in the implementation and maintenance of an effective job recording and time accountability system. Ensure that an efficient and effective directly employed labour management system is in place and provide comparison with contract labour. Assist in the identification and preparation of technical and annual maintenance programmes of work. Ensure that sufficient financial controls are in place for all engineering maintenance services and that up-to-date records exist to properly control this function. Lead and motivate the Operational engineering teams to deliver an efficient and responsive service to departments across the Trust.

The role is on a full time, permanent basis (37 hours per week) and includes hybrid / flexible working.

Qualifications for the Senior Engineering Manager:

• Engineering degree (or equivalent qualification) in relevant engineering discipline with significant demonstrable experience

Engineering Project Manager

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager with technical skills to support our engineering team to install new conveyor systems within our organisation for a 6 to 9 month fix term contract

Location you will be supporting the Manchester regain which covers some travel to the following locations Warrington, Sheffield, Chester, Preston and Manchester

Day-to-day responsibilities:

Project planning

Field verification of drawings and identifying interference's with existing/new equipment

Raise updates for different project phases, and address concerns, if any, from different groups, prior to start of works onsite.

Project execution

Set-up and manage daily calls with vendors, Provide daily report summary.

Site visits to verify project progress and gather stakeholder/customer feedback. Frequency of site visits to be agreed, address any concerns during these site visits. Escalate any concerns if needed.

Manage any ordered materials (signage, racking, SBL) to be received onsite, inventory and identify any gaps. Coordinate with Ops/RME to transport materials for the material movement and installation.

Coordinate with IT, obtain IDF keys and monitor IDF cabinets during data cable terminations. Validate cable installation and functionality with IT.

Supporting site acceptance tests (4-5d continuous onsite presence)

Project closure

Obtain all documentation from vendor and validate list against vendor deliverables. Validate basic document content (for ex. Declaration of conformity signed, correct DS name, etc.)

Transfer all documentation to appropriate storage location

Qualifications Experience

Working experience in Industrial, Mechanical, Process Engineering or equivalent

Working experience as Project Manager of medium complex projects

Proficiency in tools: AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel
