About the Role
The Placement Education Coordinator in Speech Pathology/Occupational Therapy will supervise allied health students from Flinders University and other universities undertaking placement within the Katherine region of the Northern Territory. The position will also contribute to the development and coordination of allied health student placements within the Katherine region.

About You

Currently registered with relevant professional body where required, or evidence of following regulations and standards for self-regulated professions
Significant clinical experience and evidence of professional standing and reputation in Speech Pathology or Occupational Therapy, with five (5) years minimum experience post qualification, or Doctorate in relevant field
Demonstrates a commitment to fostering a positive workplace culture, and role modelling behaviours that support the University’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) and commitment to enhancing educational opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
Experience working in remote Aboriginal health (desirable).

Organizational Function and Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for instruction in the field of Biology, namely, Microbiology, Botany, Environmental Science, Animal Biology, and Zoology at the college level. This includes developing a relevant and progressive curriculum, designing and implementing effective learning strategies and environments, delivering instruction of high quality, assessing student learning, advising students, and participating in college service activities at the department, division and college levels.
This position reports to the Associate Dean- School of Engineering, Science, and Mathematics.

1. 2. Assist and advise students who have problems with assignments, tests, grades, course content, career concerns, and other academic matters.
3. Research, develop, and administer skills assessments before, during and after courses and services with an emphasis on evaluating student performance in courses taught by the instructor.
4. Participate in instructional and curriculum articulation activities with other programs and other divisions of instruction.
5. Comply with college policies and directions regarding student testing record keeping, advanced standing, providing grades on a timely basis, maintaining office hours for student assistance and counseling, etc.
6. Work closely with the College’s Business and Industry Services division to support the training needs of business partners and/or clients.
7. Maintain competencies as an instructor as aligned with the Faculty Quality Assurance System.
8. Comply with all aspects of Board policies, work rules, and the appropriate collective bargaining agreement.
9. Attend division, department and advisory committee meetings.
10. Develop and implement strategies aimed at the retention of students of color, female students, English Language Learners (ELL), and students with disabilities.
11. Participate in appropriate staff development activities such as diversity awareness, technology training, etc.

• Two (2) years of full-time equivalent teaching experience in a related area at an accredited college within the past five (5) years may be substituted for the one (1) year of related work experience within the past five (5) years.
OR
1. Seven (7) years or 14,000 hours of related work experience.
• One (1) year (2,000 hours) of related work experience must be within the past five (5) years.
