Key responsibilities:
As the Senior Software Engineer, you will support, maintain & further develop existing externally facing underwriting systems and assist in the implementation of new solutions. The role requires demonstrating a strong competence in business engagement, expert software development skills, advanced problem-solving skills &a thorough understanding of business processes:
• Designing, Coding, testing, debugging, and releasing changes to systems according to business requirements and application functional specifications.
• Undertake research and analysis of existing systems’ functionality changes, products enhancements and bug fixes and provide a high quality of support and consultancy services to key business stakeholders.
• Perform impact analysis, systems’ logic and code reviews and provide feedback and guidance to onshore and offshore development teams on best coding practices.
• Conduct various types of testing (unit, functional, integration, regression, smoke) for existing systems’ changes and new solutions by creating test plans, test cases, recording and reviewing test results.
• Conduct Performance testing and resulting performance fine tuning and query optimization as required.
• Manage release branches and deployments across multiple environments for Business testing and go live releases.
• In consultation with the Asia Pacific Tech Lead, design and deploy appropriate software development methodologies, in line with best practice, to cover the end-to-end product lifecycle.
• Engage in discussions with LSM London Configuration and IT teams, GCS teams, GRS IT, APAC IT, and the APAC Business to ensure APAC requirements for new and existing builds are aligned with the LSM architecture roadmap and development/implementation adheres to DevOps methodologies.
• Solution Options and Recommendations – Identify and engage the Stakeholders and relevant teams within APAC, GRS and LSM in providing solution options and recommendations to meet our businesses requirements.
• Coach, develop and mentor configuration and development resources brought on board in APAC to build and support Applications used within the region.
• Engage directly with key stakeholders to plan and implement new digital services and solutions as required.
• Contribute to the ongoing refinement of the APAC systems’ architectural design and security posture and ensure that all identified security vulnerabilities are remediated in consultation with the BISO team and in accordance with the specified SLAs.
• Ensure different APAC systems’ disaster recovery solutions are fit for purpose by assisting APAC IT, GRS IT, and the GCS teams in conducting successful annual disaster recovery exercises in collaboration with the business partners.
Qualifications and Soft Skills:
• Degree in Information Security, Communication, Networks or Electronics is a must.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Programming and Applications Design using the following technologies – C# / Entity Framework, Java Script, Linq
• Minimum 6+ year working through all stages of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
• Experience with Restful API, SP.Net Webforms, CSS, Asp.Net Core, Web Services, Web API.NET Framework 4.0, 2.0/3.0/3.5, MVC, HTML, WCF, SOA
Experience with version control and branching strategies using tools such as Git.
• Competent knowledge of cyber security and vulnerability
• Competent knowledge of systems’ monitoring and logging technologies – Datadog, Splunk
• Competent understanding of Agile development practices
• Competent knowledge of CI/CD
• Advanced server and database technologies skills – Windows, MSSQL, MySQL
• Advanced Amazon Web Services technologies skills – AWS Certified Solutions Architect certification preferred.
• Strong experience in ADO.NET
• Advanced business process modelling skills
• Strong Mathematics or Computer Science background recommended.
• Competent knowledge in DevOps/JIRA or equivalent
• Advanced business process modelling skills
• Previous experience in the Insurance or Finance industry desirable
• Experience working for a consultancy is desirable.
