Job Description:

• Develop and Fine-Tune AI Models: Build, train, and fine-tune machine learning models (e.g., image recognition, NLP) to support features such as food photo analysis, calorie estimation, and dietary recommendations. (With guidance from our Senior AI Specialist)
• Utilize Pre-Trained Models: Leverage pre-trained models (e.g., Google Vertex AI, OpenAI) and customize them for our use cases, such as food classification and personalized health advice.
• Data Pipeline Management: Design and implement pipelines for collecting, cleaning, and preprocessing datasets, including food images, nutrition data, and user dietary preferences.
• Cloud Infrastructure Setup: Collaborate with frontend / backend developers to deploy and manage AI models using Google Cloud’s Vertex AI or similar cloud platforms to ensure scalability and reliability.
• Integration with Frontend & Backend Systems: Collaborate with frontend / backend developers to integrate AI features into the application via APIs, ensuring smooth interactions between the AI models and user-facing components.
• Optimize Model Performance: Evaluate and enhance model accuracy, scalability, and inference speed to meet production-grade performance requirements.
• Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with product managers, frontend developers, and nutritionists to align AI solutions with business goals and user needs.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
• Strong foundation in mathematics, statistics, and programming.
• Experience in developing, training, and fine-tuning machine learning models (e.g., image recognition, natural language processing).
• Familiarity with pre-trained models (e.g., Google Vertex AI, OpenAI) and their customization for specific use cases.
• Proficiency in Python and frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras.
• Understanding of cloud platforms like Google Cloud, AWS, or Azure, with specific experience in deploying AI models on Google Cloud’s Vertex AI preferred.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Head of IT Operations will lead the development and implementation of IT operations strategies and roadmaps, ensuring alignment with the overall Group IT strategic plans. Acting as a trusted advisor to the Tune Protect Malaysia leadership team, the incumbent will ensure IT services effectively address business needs while maintaining operational excellence and mitigating risks related to IT landscapes. This role requires a strong understanding of the technology landscape, the ability to foster stakeholder relationships, and a focus on security, business continuity, and operational excellence.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategy & Leadership

• Provide leadership to the IT Operations unit, fostering a culture of business orientation and continuous service improvement.
• Develop and execute IT operations strategies and roadmaps aligned with Group IT and enterprise strategic plans.
• Control annual operating and capital expenditure budgets (Capex/Opex)
• Support the business in driving customer-centric initiatives for good customer engagement and experience.

IT Service Management

• Ensure smooth transition and ongoing support for the core system migration to go-live and post-go-live phases.
• Oversee IT end-user services, core system operations and IT service management
• Ensure service level agreements (SLAs) and operating level agreements (OLAs) across Tune Protect entities are met consistently
• Lead IT service management initiatives and develop IT scorecards for senior management reviews

Risk & Security

• Identify, assess, and communicate risks related to the IT landscape
• Ensure effective application of security, risk management, and business continuity principles
• Address and resolve findings from internal and external IT audits (e.g., EY, KPMG) to achieve timely closure

Partner and Vendor Engagement

• Develop IT vendor management processes and governance frameworks.
• Enhance engagement with strategic partners and suppliers through effective partner governance.
• Foster collaborative partnerships to improve service delivery and operational efficiency

Performance and Governance

• Measure and ensure operational services and performance using consistent and accurate metrics.
• Align IT initiatives with the long-term and annual business plans of the organization.
• Support the rollout of security and quality assurance initiatives.
• Maintain close coordination with audit, product, and technology teams to drive improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of versatile experience in IT Application Operations, with a preference for candidates from financial institutions, though not mandatory.
• Proven experience in managing and implementing modern technologies, including:

-         Cloud infrastructure and services

-         Digital business models

-         API-driven architectures.

Provide technical support to application development teams

Evaluate release of Middleware, Operating system, Database components and its tools to ensure entire environment is complaint with no/minimal impact

Manage CI/CD pipelines & Deployments

Qualifications

Understanding of protocols like HTTP/HTTPS/FTP/SFTP/AS2 etc

Programing experience in Java

Write Unix Shell & Bash Scripting

Familiarity with Linux operating system and commands

Capability to troubleshoot integration issues efficiently

Design and develop highly complex and scalable Python modules.

Take ownership of end-to-end technical delivery, adhering to project timelines and requirements.

Participate in requirement analysis and propose alternative solutions where necessary.

Integrate applications using middleware software such as Avro Kafka and handle database design.

Deploy applications to OpenShift via CICD pipelines.

Collaborate with application support, developers, and product owners to ensure successful releases.

Be flexible to work extra hours to meet corporate and departmental goals.

Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, working under pressure.

Degree in Computing, Computer Science, or Engineering preferred.

3 to 8 years of experience, preferably in the financial/fintech industry.

Experience in supporting trading desks.

Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills for 2-tier and multi-tier applications.

Experience as first-line application support for trading systems and back-office, handling issue analysis and general system checks and maintenance tasks.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Experience documenting design and development work in Confluence.

Primary Skills: Python, Unix, SQL

Expertise in Python (OOPs concepts, Flask/Django frameworks, multithreading, web sockets, and analytics tools such as Pandas and NumPy).

Strong experience in SQL and PL-SQL database design with at least one RDBMS (preferably MariaDB and MS-SQL).

Proficiency in writing batch scripts using shell scripting.

Experience with Linux, OpenShift, Avro-based Kafka, Docker, Nginx, Sentinel Redis, AngularJS basics, REST APIs (Flask), JSON, and web sockets.

Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Bitbucket.
