GROUP FINANCE MANAGER

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Group Finance Manager to lead our finance and accounting functions. The Group Finance Manager will play a crucial role in managing the group’s financial operations, budgeting, forecasting, and providing financial insights to support our growth and sustainability goals. The role requires travel to our plantation at Papua New Guinea quarterly or half yearly.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Planning and Analysis:

• Lead the development and execution of financial strategies, budgets, and financial plans across the group.
• Provide financial insights and analysis to support decision-making and ensure fiscal responsibility.
• Participating in budgeting processes for the group.

Financial Reporting

• Oversee the preparation and timely delivery of accurate financial statements and reports.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards.

Risk Management

• Identify financial risks and implement strategies to mitigate them.
• Maintain a strong internal control environment to safeguard company assets.

Treasury and Cash Management

• Manage cash flow and liquidity to support daily operations and capital investments for the group.
• Monitor banking relationships, including the negotiation of financing agreements and terms.

Tax and Compliance

• Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations.
• Work with external auditors and tax authorities to facilitate audits and assessments.
• Ensure statutory compliant i.e. government regulations, accounting standards, generally acceptable accounting standards (GAAP) in all jurisdictions that the business has presence.
• Develop, implement and maintain sound financial accounting system, document standard operating procedures, corporate governance and internal controls (preventive and detective).
• Corporate Tax Transfer Pricing Documentation in compliance with local legislations

Team Leadership

• Build and manage a high-performing finance and accounting team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (Master's or CPA preferred).
• Proven experience as a Finance manager/Head of Finance or in a similar financial leadership role, with at least 15 years of experience.
• Willing to travel overseas quarterly or half yearly.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, auditing principles and reporting standards.
• Experience in the palm oil or agricultural sector is a plus.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

The candidate will be Head of Finance and Accounting and reports to the Group Management on the overall financial management of the Group of Companies.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develops finance organizational strategies by contributing financial and accounting information, analysis and recommendations to strategic thinking and direction; establishing functional objectives in line with organizational objectives.
• Manage and oversee the full spectrum of group accounting, finance, tax, treasury, strategic analysis and planning including the management of the team, liaising with external auditors and tax agents to ensure compliance with statutory audit/tax/legal requirements
• To be responsible for leading and managing the finance team on matters related to statutory books of Malaysia (i.e. audit, tax return, tax payments, SST matters, internal audit).
• Review group financial forecasts including commercial P&L and cash flows for business planning and performance review.
• Understand key elements of company risk; identify and mitigate them.
• Engage and communicate with department heads to ensure financial information and controls will support business decisions.
• Promote and enhance sound financial practices and compliance with legislative and authoritative requirements across the company.
• Provide timely analysis and advise the Group Chief Executive Officer on the company’s financial management issues; ensuring that the company meets it commitment to financial accountability and transparency.
• Liaise and work closely with external parties/stakeholders such as auditors, tax agents, bankers and etc.
• Formulation and review of financial operational processes including oversight functions, cost control, operational finance procedures

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Qualification Required: Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor Degree for Finance or Accounting as well as a professional accounting qualification (CIMA/ACCA/CPA etc.) Qualified Accountant will be given preference.
• Industrial Background Preferred: Min 10 years’ working experience in Accounting and Finance with at least 5 years at management position.
• Working experience in manufacturing environment with costing skills.
• Strong technical accounting and taxation knowledge
• Well verse in ERP and able to provide recommendation to improve the system
• Provide leadership, coaching and training to enhance the team’s capability and effectiveness
• Drive forward best proactive and be proactive in implementing change (as appropriate) reporting processes and systems
• Able to demonstrate a clear vision, global mindset and successful people and culture leadership and integration.

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for the financial health and sustainability of the organization. This executive role involves managing the company's economic strategy, overseeing financial planning and analysis, risk management, record-keeping, and financial reporting. The CFO is critical in influencing the company's strategic direction, investment decisions, and long-term financial planning.

Key Responsibilities/Duties

1. Manage the company's financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and auditing.
2. Ensure that the financial transactions, policies, and procedures meet the organization's short and long-term business objectives and are conducted in accordance with regulations, accounting principles, and standards.
3. Develop and implement the financial strategy of the company. This includes long-term financial planning and forecasting, risk management, and investment strategies.
4. Oversee the preparation and communication of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
5. Ensure the timely reporting of key financial data and updates to the Managing Director, Board of Directors, and other key stakeholders.
6. Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions. This includes tax planning and compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.
7. Direct the Finance and accounting team, to ensure ongoing improvements in processes as well as their ongoing professional development and training.
8. Any other duties assigned from time to time by the Management.

Qualification Requirement

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (MBA or advanced degree is a plus).
• Chartered Accountant (CA) certification is compulsory.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible financial leadership experience, including prior experience as a Finance Manager.
• Preferred background in the food & beverage, hotel, and resort industry.
• Strong knowledge of corporate finance, accounting principles, financial regulations, and risk management practices.
• Demonstrated expertise in governance, with a deep understanding of regulatory compliance and corporate ethics.
• Familiarity with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, with experience in implementing sustainability initiatives.
• Proven track record of strategic financial management and leadership.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in managing investor relations and fundraising activities is a plus.

Role Summary:

This position is responsible for all aspects of accounting and tax operations, including the development and maintenance of accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. The role also involves ensuring adequate controls and governance over business operations processes.

Main Responsibilites:

• • Overall responsible for performing accounting functions including general accounting (from internal/external communication, data processing), management accounting and financial accounting by finance system operation, AR, AP & GL management, payment & collection management, intercompany transaction management, month-end balance reconciliation etc.
  • Treasury (Bank, Collection & Payment Management), Monthly Cash flow.
  • Handling/reviewing accounting data entries into system.
  • Fixed asset management.
  • Prepare working files for reporting forms, consolidation, statutory in compliance with Financial Reporting Standards and relevant standards, rules and regulations etc.
  • Prepare for /support response to Internal/ External Audit.
  • Design and operation of Internal control relating to accounting procedures.
  • Tax filing (Corporate tax, GST etc.)
  • Overseas branch management (from internal/external communication to system entry).
  • Vendor, Customer and system master management.
  • Performing/ Supervising AR, AP and expense claim process.

Requirement:
