Salary Information: The salary range for DeWitt, MI (LAN - Capital Region International Airport) is $39,576 to $55,231 or $18.96 to $26.46 per hour and includes locality pay of 16.82%.

This Transportation Security Officer position is located in Transportation Security Administration, Department of Homeland Security (DHS). As a Transportation Security Officer (TSOs) within Security Operations (SO), you will provide security and protection of air travelers, airports and aircraft in a courteous and professional manner. Duties may include but are not limited to:

• Operating various screening equipment and technology to identify dangerous objects in baggage, cargo and on passengers, and preventing those objects from being transported onto aircraft.
• Performing searches and screening, which may include physical interaction with passengers (e.g., pat-downs, search of property, etc.), conducting bag searches and lifting/carrying bags, bins, and property weighing up to 50lbs.
• Controlling terminal entry and exit points.
• Interacting with the public, giving directions and responding to inquiries.
• Maintaining focus and awareness while working in a stressful environment which includes noise from alarms, machinery and people, crowd distractions, time pressure, and disruptive and angry passengers, in order to preserve the professional ability to identify and locate potentially life threatening or mass destruction devices, and to make effective decisions in both crisis and routine situations.
• Engaging in continuous development of critical thinking skills, necessary to mitigate actual and potential security threats, by identifying, evaluating, and applying appropriate situational options and approaches. This may include application of risk-based security screening protocols that vary based on program requirements.
• Retaining and implementing knowledge of all applicable Standard Operating Procedures, demonstrating responsible and dependable behavior, and is open to change and adapts to new information or unexpected obstacles.

• Responsible for the safeguarding government personnel, property, and technologies against such threats as: unlawful entry, sabotage, espionage, theft, accidental or willful damage, and destruction.
• Operating security forces equipment such as computers, radio and communications devices.
• Coordinating activities of a guard force shift, to insure the maintenance of physical security standards
• Conducting initial employee counseling outlining performance standards to include midpoint reviews.
• Informing employees about management guidelines in writing and/or verbal form.
• Reviewing daily reports from subordinate work leaders to insure the correction of reported irregularities
• Performing duties such as: approve and/or disapprove leave requests, and modify duty schedules as dictated.

• Adhere to the general guidance, policies, and objectives of the overall security program to accomplish assigned projects as planned.
• Provide advice and/or recommendations to the Director of Emergency Services on all physical security matters.
• Administrative supervises conduct of formal investigations, briefs investigating officers, provides guidance and monitors preparation of report, coordinates with other staff elements
• Program annual physical security and follow-up surveys and inspections of activities.
• Develop and supervise contract performance.
• Evaluate work performance of subordinates, and gives advice, counsel, or instruction to employee.
• Conduct physical security special studies and surveys to meet the demands of organizational missions and practices.
• Prepare, maintain and update the arms, ammunition and explosives and physical security plans as they relate to the IMCOM and various tenant missions.
• Has oversight and of the Installation Access Control policies and procedures and maintains operational command over the Department of the Army Security Guards (DASGs).
• Present orientation and class on physical security to security representatives/activity personnel.

As a Program Manager, you will:

• Direct a segment of complex professional, scientific, engineering, administrative, technical and/or support programs and develop work plans based on external trends and events.

• Provides leadership, direction, and program oversight of the design and construction activities for projects within Vehicles Systems Branch.
• Oversees and directs the design and construction of exceptionally difficult and complex mission critical projects to ensure that projects meet design requirements and are constructed in accordance with approved designs.
• These projects include next generation vehicles and trailers used to perform critical national security missions.
• Applies expert knowledge of engineering concepts and practices applicable to vehicle manufacturing, communication systems, and OST operational requirements.
• Resolves controversial, unprecedented, and/or significant issues with existing vehicles and trailers.
• Provides authoritative recommendations to address engineering concerns with vehicle and trailer platforms

As a Nuclear Materials Courier, you will

• Serve as a member of a highly specialized armed protective force that is responsible for the safe and secure transportation of classified and/or hazardous materials including nuclear weapons, components, test assemblies, and strategic quantities of weapons-grade special nuclear materials. This involves the operation of Government-owned motor vehicles, including tractor-trailers.
• Integrate many processes and methods in the fields of security; health and safety; emergency management; and law enforcement, including tactical operations to respond to a multitude of possible natural and/or man-made threats to the safety and security of sensitive, dangerous, and extremely valuable cargo.

• Serve as the Assistant Manager for Operations (AMO) responsible for performance direction, day-to-day oversight and contract administration activities in support of the Operations programs at Sandia National Laboratories (SNL).
